Pelican

black stallion, he's using a Squire Bass VI with an EGC bolt on neck. But yeah, I still can't believe it either. I get the impression that he's not the sentimental/nostalgic type and I also don't think he's much of a gear head. When he sold the orange one he told me it was to fund the purchase of more gear. I'm guessing an amplifier, but who knows? Didn't ask.

Dumpster D, it wasn't cheap, but let's just say that I'm really, really, really glad that my favorite bass player is Kevin and not John Paul Jones or Roger Waters or someone that famous. It costs more than most fans would spend on memorabilia, but way less than a damn house or whatever similar sum of money something like Paul's Hofner would go for. I'm a painter so I don't collect much art because I'm up to my neck in my own stuff. For me this is art. And I get to take it off the wall every now and then, plug it in to the old Ampeg and do my best Night Goat.

That is probably the reason the covered that song...Kevin whipped out that guitar and said "hey check it out...it's the green Manalishi..."  lol.

Quote from: WGB on February 12, 2020, 12:09:11 PMI took a nice photo of some of the gear I had the other day, the two orange cabs used to belong to Buzz for their Euro rig. As soon as he got endorsed by bareface and felt how light they were the back breakers were out the window.

I was gonna crop the other amps out, but it's nice to look at amps sometimes.

melvins gear fan here, can you tell me what speakers are in those cabs or at least the ohms and wattage? great grails right there!
waaaaaaaaaaah

If possible, check with Buzz directly. Maybe someone that worked FOH? Maybe Tim moss would have a clue? Or at least know who to ask.

Figure out how much load a Sunn Beta Lead can handle.

I'm not clear what his Carver preamps were running, but sometimes a pair of 15's.

Buzz was really stickler for those 15's, depending on the acoustics of the venue.

I guess the 2 Sun amps could handle a half stack apiece?

He's sometimes rented a couple Marshall Half stacks, and those Emperor Cabs are kinda custom stuff, and I haven't kept up with his rig.

The google says 'Sunn beta lead' :

Power rating: 100-watts.
4-ohm impedance.
2-channels.

Shit man, 100 watt solid state eh?

I remember the Beta lead combo was a 2X12 and could also run an a Half stack as well, not too shabby.

prices of these are off the scale these days...I could have picked one up 25 years ago for like $200 Canadian all-in.

the leads that are in the combos are 100% pure beta leads. nothing different about them. they're powerful!

Don't remind me, I'll always regret when I had the chance to get one back in the day for punk money...I've never gotten over it.
