Jesus man. I go on summer holiday for what, 6 weeks and already feel like I've missed so much!! A brand spanking new Melvins album. Bloody hell. This is some fucking year for music. And I still feel the best is yet to come: Strapping Young Lad, Slayer, Boris, Mastodon and now Melvins!! And those are just the ones that come to mind instantly. Wonderful!

i knew i'd miss something if i stayed away too long.  now i sorta wish i hadn't returned till october 3rd. 

i've decided, while reading this lengthy thread, that i will download about 10% of the album.  maybe one or two songs, and listen to them a lot.  i need to know what it sounds like, but i don't want to ruin the whole experience.  (as if listening to it is ruining it.....?) 
then again.........not knowing what it sounds like at all would be pretty cool........

Why start a tour with out the new release to sell? I mean i'm not complaining, but does it make good business sense? Maybe it's because they are all so busy?

I remember the HAT tour and by the time I saw the first show that year I had all of HAT memorized.

So why is it that almost every single album gets leaked before the release date? I know bigger labels give tons of promo copies to radio stations, and they usually have asshole DJs who go home at lunch just to be the first dork to put on album on Limewire or something, but what would stop a Melvins album from being kept in the dark until that fateful Tuesday? Ipecac would surely give out some promo copies, but is that the only way that H.A.T. ended up being heard by us folks? Is there something about this whole process that I'm missing?

The same thing is done by some of the people who are given Ipecac promo copies. Hopefully those who download Melvins studio releases will go out and buy the actual albums.

proud to say I never heard one song off HAT before I bought it.   of course I wasn't a member of this board then either.  temptation wasn't really an issue.

I say I am not downloading this album, I'm waiting for the official release.  but its going to piss me off to no end when everyone here is talking about it in september and passing around the download like a drugged up groupie.
