Deatheats - Totally agree with u although metallica did have their moments before becoming metal's boys band

Lord - this last friend of mine actually listens to a lot of rock music but not really to the melvins. my other friend who told me revolve sounds like metallica doesn't listen to rock music much at all so I guess ur point is valid there...

and meanclown - trying to be like the melvins would stand against everything metallica stands for these days - making money, become even more greedy and rich, being mtv puppets, playing mediocre music, u name it...
Why say no to drugs when you can say yes?

Yes, why do you care anyway...?

You're always sooooooo cool

Hey, just because you got jaded jerking off to the SL forums doesn't mean I care how you feel about me.

I guess my point was, if it all sounds good to you, why worry about what the man next to ya think.
I was just skipping the cyber hugs and male bonding...

It`s kind of refreshing with Greven shaking up in our cyber-hugging. It would be deadly boring if everyone should agree on everything and be nice to each other, no matter what.

But, it`s time for Galv and Smokable to make peace, so I suggest they give each other a good old....

Come on, Smoke and Galv, it`s not dangerous, come on, hug and make friends now!

Ok, I just listened to this today. It sounds NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNG like Metallica. What the fuck?

Keep in mind most of us are 'practiced' listeners, unlike people who have heard Metallica songs as One, Nothing Else Matters and Whiskey In The Jar. For them it's sort of logical to make the connection between Revolve and Metallica. They probably also think Napalm Death and Slipknot sound alike.

seas of luck

The first time I heard Revolve I thought Tool kinda ripped off the main riff and used it for Lateralus.  I've never thought Revolve sounded like Metallica.

But now that you mention it, I did think that Set Me Straight sounded a lot like Metallica at first and Houdini was my 4th or 5th Melvins album.  For awhile I was begining to wonder if the Melvins just ripped off Metallica and that song kinda turned me off to the album for awhile.  Luckly it showed up on Mangled Demos from 1983 so it's obviously not a Metallica rip off.  Now nothing they have done even vaguely reminds me of Metallica.

the vocals are more produced than on the other albums, and i think thats where we get the impression its a METALLICA kind of vocal delivery and tone . . .

weird, because once youve heard it you kind of cant deny it . . .

and to norecess - i seriously think that if there wasnt an uneasy resemblance to METALLICA vocals in the song, we wouldnt be talking about it right now . . . and to many, "cookie monster" vocals are pretty much across the board (re SLIPKNOT/NAPALM DEATH) . . . sure, they have their differences, but come on, they all sound pretty similar, or else it wouldnt be a trade mark style of metal . . .

either way, the song fucking owns the shit out of anything METALLICA could ever do (and i personally think "revolve" isnt THE MELVINS strongest songs), so at the end of the day, who gives a fuck . . .

Here are my thoughts:

- I'm not sure about the Metallica comparisons but Revolve, to me, is the Melvins at their complacent cringeworthy worst.

- Inside my Stoner Witch CD case lies a burnt, Revolve-less version of the album which in my eyes is vastly improved.

- The Revolve on Electroretard is how it should've been.

- Long may this topic rear it's ugly head.

- Yuck.

That's pretty freaky! This kinda happened to me. I used to play my music at work, in a butcher shop, while we were closed. Stoner Witch was the only Melvins that I owned. Stag was about to be released, and I knew that the Melvins would be on the second stage at Lollapalooza, with Metallica on the main stage. Anyway, I was blasting Stoner Witch on a Saturday Night, after work. My boss, who was a real novice at music said, "wow Metallica could learn something from these boys!". I told him, "I hope so". Not the exact same thing, but it's close.

Moments after this recording was over, Lars Ulrich had them all arrested.
