hey all,
can someone that's going to one of these US shows do me a massive favour and grab me the pigskin/starve already 7"s if there is any left?

i would love to get them if i can, but ebay bidders for the few i've seen on there seem to be able to afford/willing to pay a shitload more for them than me and i've just read a post in another thread by mopafeena saying there'll be no melvins magic for us in australia again this tour- even though there probably wouldn't be any of the 7"s left by the time they did anyway!

By that logic, I could probably get say the uncensored press of Lysol on vinyl, I mean, I remember seeing it for $10 or so when it came out.  I didn't tell the guy I'd sell them to him for $80 or whatever the going rate for the Pigskin set was, but if he has extras of something, or items willing to trade, then perhaps we could make a deal if it was something I needed, but I'm not just gonna sell 'em for $25 'cuz I'm a nice guy.  Seems fair to me.

exactly.  if i am going to do a friend a favor, that's what it's going to be - a favor.  not an opportunity.  if i spend 40 on it, i'll get 40 back and then i can buy whatever it is i want.  not trade for something worth 50.    ....then again....if the mystery item is worth 50 to you, but 40 to them then i guess it is a win-win situation.  i don't know.  sort of a tough call i guess

First of all, this is a messageboard on the internet, I don't have any friends here.  Secondly I wasn't trying to make money, if I was I would just put the records up on ebay.  What I was doing was inquiring about a trade.  The items I as offering I paid $25 for and I will trade them for something I'm missing to someone who wants them because they are missing.  You're talking about trading something you bought for $40 for some other mystery item worth $50, how is that $50 price dictated?  If I traded this for Lysol on vinyl which someone had bought for $10, then they would be getting the better deal because I paid more for my item, right?  No, because the secondary market dictates price, supply and demand.  If "the fool" doesn't want to trade, fine, but no point in acting like I'm being opportunistic, and good luck to them finding someone to do this for them.  If they had real friends there wouldn't be a public grovel on a message board where the public can respond.
