melvins, thine enemy

i've frankly given up trying to convert any of my friends to the melvins, it's something you have come round to on your own. Well if you're intelligent.

Thank God my wife now sees the light.  She was absolutely stoked by the melvins/big business show.  Her third Melvins show and she finally "got it".
Who knows how long the relationship could have lasted if she hated the melvins

The most disappointing thing anyone has ever said to me regarding this was, "I saw em in Jacksonville. They really blew."

Thought balloon over my head: Dammit, you got to SEE THEM at least!


But anymore, the people I turn on to them seem to appreciate the fact that I took the time to expose them to it. A good friend of mine said recently, "I can't believe I've never heard of these guys. Jesus. Buy me a ticket to the Mr Small's show!" Granted, he was a wee tot when Ozma was released.

I'm not a regular visitor of the SY board, but a while ago I checked it out to see if there was anyone with a spot left for ATP for a friend, and I couldn't help performing a search for 'melvins' while I was there. One of the threads went something like this.

#1: "Cool, the Melvins have been confirmed!"
#2: "Why would Thurston ever select the Melvins?"
#1: "Because they are his peers?"
#3: "So is Celine Dion!"
