I think it works that way. The only song that I think could've been longer is "My Small % Shows Most", because it sounds better with the extra line.

Agreed with the small % comment.  I like the second verse on repulsion though.  Seems to make that song  endless too.  The longer version of accident does drag.  Making it concise was an improvement.  I just find it interesting that buzz would dice his songs up.  Vile vermillion is another example.  But some pretty drastic changes were made on that one.

Well yeah, the old version of V.V.V. had way more going on... I think the shortness of the songs on the actual album add sort of an artistic tension... nothing lags on for too long and it challenges the idea that a slow song = long song, and Ozma is one of the weirdest (for the era) and least repetitive Melvins albums they did. Though the only other version of "Ever Since My Accident" I've heard is super fucking fast and only 45 seconds long, so the Ozma version is WAY slower... though I'm not even sure if it actually is the same song.

I've come to the conclusion that "Kool Legged" is a song about teenage masturbation. Who's with me?

Am I to believe that "Let God be your gardener" is about Heroin?

is this correct?

Anyone else catch that Dead Dressed kinda seems like an elderly man lost his wife in death and wears her skin to feel better?
"I don't get it.  It's pretty simple to reason out what happened.  El Duce blackmailed Neil Armstrong into murdering Cobain lest he release photos of Armstrong pulling the trigger on JFK.

Why you ask?  Because Cobain was secretly banging Bin Laden, El Duce's lover." -U5x Danny

That is most fucked up, I like it.

I dunno if I could even consider that kind of musical subject matter.

That's creepy

The Melvins lyrics have always been a huge source of enjoyment and even some inspiration for me. I like to try and pick out what it may be about. I mean, no one really knows but Buzz himself, or it may not mean anything, but I quite enjoy the meanings I put to the lyrics.  :)

Popped in Ozma for the ride home from work tonight.  I started messing with the bass and treble and discovered something...it sounds best with the bass turned almost all the way up and treble a little over mid range.  I've never been very happy with the way this album sounds but doing this helps.

The trebly sound is good. It makes it different from GPT, which I imagine was the point.

Either Dale's, Buzz's or Mark's. Unless anyone on here has access to the original recording
Also, why do you need that? If you don't mind me asking

I want all the albums of just Dale.  Why?  To hear the master at work.  And piss off my neighbors who blast their mexi-polka everyday.

this Frankenstein of a thread is going to be 10 years old in a few months.

so I got a hold of this album last year and have been listening to it on and off since then. it's definitely taken some time for it to sink in for me. not that I didn't like it -I did- but unlike an album like GPT, it just didn't totally click with me upon the first few listens. the last several listens did the trick though. a lot of times he best albums take some getting used to.

glen is right, Dale KILLS it on this album, but he's not the only one. but yeah, what Dale does on this album is really fantastic.

I think everything about this album is just about perfect, save the production, and I think I might actually be coming around on that point as well... the songs are great! the band kills it. Buzz's vocals are really cool. the lyrics are outstanding. the song lengths are perfect (I just typed out dong lengths by mistake before I noticed ). the album cover is fantastic.

great fucking album!

I was wondering what I would have thought of this album if I had gotten it when it was released. I would still have been in high school. I think I would have been very interested in what I was hearing, but also a little freaked out. would have been a good combo.

it would have been interesting to have been exposed to Melvins at that age. but im enjoying coming at it from this age as well. definitely a different perspective. but being able to "discover" this album for myself at this point in my life is pretty great.
