It's like comparing 'The Bloated Pope' and 'Blood Witch'.  There is no right choice.  Just similarities and preferences.

eeeerrrrr!!!!     come on now,   the bloated pope is so much darker and nastier!  yes, they're similar.   but the bloated pope is the evil twin.

get richie quick,  I sense another vote.

I couldn't decide so I listened to history of bad men and then the houdini version of nightgoat. I felt like an idiot for not being able to decide. nightgoat nightgoat nightgoat nightgoat nightgoat

I agree.  I was a little hammered last night, but I think I was thinking only about how both songs have a riff that kind of start-stop-start-stop.  Fuck, who knows what I was thinking, I had too much whiskey.

I think it's unfair posing Boris and Hooch together, they aren't similar like Nightgoat & HOBM or Bloated Pope & The Blood Witch.

yeah, id still go with "boris" . . .

i was comparing them because theyre two similar, sludge-as-fuck kind of songs . . .

History of Bad Men. Especially live. I saw a bunch of shows on the last tour and every show when that song started the whole club just started rolling. Everyone. Unstoppable head rocking. Total groove.

My dad came to the Philly show, had never heard the Melvins before, just happened to be in town the same time I was, and even he couldn't help but rock out to that song. My dad does not rock out.

Night Goat is a great song, but doesn't affect an audience in the same way.

Nothing will change the fact that songs like AHOBM is the reason why I listen to the Melvins.
Night Goat, At A Crawl, Hog Leg, Skeeter, the list goes on!

Mad Arab

I have to go with History Of Bad Men. The song is so much more dynamic and powerful. Give it a another year or so and it will be just as popular and dare I say even more popular a live request hollered out randomly by Melvins fans. The lyrics are infectious and the music is as well. What a feat they accomplished!

I wish the Melvins would go back to singing the original lyrics to Night Goat. The alternate lyrics don't do it for me.

anaconda

Ya! I noticed that as well. Why'd they change them?
