Help me make a Melvins best of CD

I'm making a "best of the Melvins" CD and I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what you think I should put on it.


I have the following albums:

A Senile Animal
Bullhead
Eggnog
Gluey Porch Treatments
Houdini
Lysol (forget about Lysol, though, I'm not going to put the whole album on my best of CD)
Ozma
Stoner Witch
The Bootlicker
The Maggot


And I know some of what I'm going to put on it already, I know I want "Honey Bucket" and "Hag Me" together.   I want "Sweet Willy Rollbar" together with "Revolve" and probably "June Bug" for the first track of the CD.  I also am going to put all 4 parts of "Amazon" as well as "The Green Manalishi" on there too.  Oh, and "A History Of Drunks" all the way through "A History Of Bad Men" from A Senile Animal in order because all those songs are awesome and lead into one another really well.

And "Black Santa."  Thats a cool one too.

My problem comes in when I'm picking tracks from GPT, Ozma and Bullhead.  They're all fantastic albums, but its harder for me to pick individual tracks since I always listen to those three as albums, and I don't always pick out the individual songs when I'm listening to them.  I think thats what makes Melvins compilations hard anyway, they're albums always work so well as complete works, its hard to break them up into parts.

So, with the albums listed above, what additional songs would you pick?  I've got 80 minutes available.

Also, any suggestions on the track listing, how I should sequence it?  Not that its a big deal, just curious how you guys would do it.

Honestly, I think the melvins did a great job with the best of cd they did for 'neither here nor there'.  The whole album seems to flow really well.

I can't see breaking up bullhead, or lysol; they seem more like the type of albums that you listen to all the way through.

hmm, and As Was It off Gluey.

Oven off Ozma maybe.

Make sure you post the final tracklist when you decide. I'd really like to see what you come up with.

Oh, I forgot to mention "Roadbull," that has to go on there (how cool is that whistling part at the end?), and I think Charmicarmicat would be a good way to end it (I totally forgot about that one), so I think thats what I'll do with that.

I have to look at those songs you guys suggested from GPT, Ozma, and Bullhead again.  Maybe make a few playlists on my iPod and see how they feel before I burn the final product.

I should probably throw another track or two from Houdini on there, I like the Going Blind cover.

You'll probably end up doing what I did.....burning a new cd with different songs about every 2-3 months.  I've got about 9-10 cd's that just say Melvins on them.

Or you could make a Melvins CD with just their sludgy stuff. Another with mellow/experimental stuff. Another with their more faster stuff.

i've mentioned this before, but it is dear to me:  the person who initiated me into the melvins sat me down in front of his speakers, told me to close my eyes and imagine i'm at a concert and turned HOGLEG up realllly high.  i had a few albums and wasn't necessarily convinced of their greatness till that moment.  ::tear::
