on mine track 1 and the track <= would be Hog Leg.

one time for valentines day i made 5 copies of a cd for my best friends that were girls and fit as many tracks of hog leg on an 80 minute recordable disc as would fit.

hahahaa that is quite evil
did they appreciate it?

i've mentioned this before, but it is dear to me: the person who initiated me into the melvins sat me down in front of his speakers, told me to close my eyes and imagine i'm at a concert and turned HOGLEG up realllly high. i had a few albums and wasn't necessarily convinced of their greatness till that moment. ::tear::
When a guy tells me to close my eyes and imagine, I get scared! :x :x :x

i imagine this is especially the case when a term like 'hogleg' is involved

they appreciated it on some level, perhaps not the level intended

and it reads to me as though you are INDEBTED to said friend, buy him a beer on my behalf (providing he isn't in prison)

Vcavallo

i am indebted to him. for a lot of stuff.
he definitely helped shape who i am today in a lot of ways. i'll buy him a beer (on your behalf, as you request) next time we're in town together..we're pretty close (i think..) so i've paid him back with love and many good memories

18. The Hawk
19. You've Never Been Right

I really should make a 2 disk best of for the Melvins, it was really hard cutting some tracks for others.

But I guess these are my cream of the Melvins crop.

Where is "anaconda" and "let it all be"? :D
i don't have a square to spare. can't spare a square.

Cool compilation. I wouldn't have added so many songs from ASA on it. A song that will always make it to my Best Of compilation is At The Stake.

I pretty much have half of ASA on it, don't I?

Its probaby too much, and perhaps the still fresh novelty of that "new, awesome album" feeling, but I think those 5 tracks from ASA are some of the coolest stuff the Melvins have ever done. Especially the fast 4, they blend into a very outstanding 10 minutes of awesome. And "A History Of Bad Men?" I love the sludge music contrasting the fairly fast paced vocals, its great.

But we already knew ASA was great, right?

As to why I didn't include some tracks, I just couldn't. "At The Stake" is great, but I have half of Stoner Witch on there already.

The Melvins, like the Ramones, just have too much great music that you can't possibly fit everything you want into an 80 minute frame.

With my current Melvins catalogue, I'm thinking two discs would do it (that second disc would be mostly GPT, Ozma Bullhead and ALL of Lysol), and I'm sure if you had everything they've done, you'd need about a 4 disc box set to really get a good picture.

The Ramones I could do with three discs, and I do have all their studio albums.

Isn't it awesome that there are bands out there that manage to stick around long enough to put out a TON of great music?

Hooray for the Melvins! =D> =D> =D>

And you folks who are trying my comp out, let me know your opinion, please. Does it feel nice and coheisive like a good comp should?

No Bloated Pope?

Anyway, if I made a Melvins 'best of' compilation I'd put With Teeth on at least 4 times.
