I just started a job on Monday, and this guy I work with happened to ask me what kind of music I liked. I said all sorts. Next thing I mention The Melvins and he says "no way I listened to them on the way into work today its in my car now"  Turns out we have a very similar taste in music and have been to a few of the same shows.

Anybody else at random meet fellow Melvins fans? Especially at work.

No, but I made a Melvins fan at work.  I had my boss listen to some of the double drummer work on (A)SA and he went home and downloaded a ton of Melvins mp3s

He told me later that he really liked "Black Santa" among other tracks.

TGH

I was listening to (A)SA at work today, and as they leave some kid yelled out "MELVINS? HELL YEAH!"
This isn't a time for lectures!

When I worked in CIA there were many Melvins fans to my surprise that were agents.

i got (a)sa on our jukebox at work, and every once in awhile i'll hear someone other than me playing the album so i always check and see who it is and a few times there has been some people "holy fucking shit you got the melvins on your juke?". and then it begins, i've actually spent a good half hour ranting about the melvins with some customer and not working and getting behind and then fucking myself. but hey you wanna talk melvins? i'll drop everything (@work) to do that.

not that this has anything to do with melvins at work, but a local sports radio show here in nashville recently interviewed chris cornell for some odd reason.  this led the hosts to bring up favorite grunge era groups in a segment they call "four questions" a couple of days later. the questions included topics about buying season tickets for hockey, how many games the cavs would win vs. the spurs. the last question was what was your favorite group of the era. the choices were pearl jam, nirvana, alice in chains, and soundgarden. out of total surprise and the thought of doing the same, a caller halfway through the segment adds that he wanted to pick a fifth band. yeah, you know it, his fav band was the fucking melvins!  here i am getting a quick overview of the melvins influence on grunge on a local sports talk show.  the boys are everywhere! just thought this was an interesting little note. hepp hepp or whatever!

It's a goddamn shame he picked them as his fifth band! I think Kim Thayil knows where it's at. Oh well, this is a guy who sings James Bond themes and covers Michael Jackson tunes, what did you expect?

no, what happened is the caller's favorite band wasn't on the list. by the rules of four questions, you're not supposed to pick off the list, but they let him anyways.

i recognized a guy from work at the last melvins show i went to. i'd seen him sporting a motorhead shirt previously, but i couldn't place where i recognized him from at the time so i didn't say anything.

I know it's because his newest solo album came out last week, but he was on the sports-talk radio station here in Seattle on Friday I believe.  I guess it makes a little more sense, it being Seattle and all, but I still found it strange.

I'm an accountant at a big company, and I have yet to meet a fellow Melvins fan (although I'm sure there are a few here).

A couple of guys I work with are into them, but I'm usually weary of playing Melvins or any other cds as most people there have pretty bad musical taste and the cds on occasion are known to wander off or be destroyed.
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

That sucks when that happens.  A friend of mine in my old workplace more than once had his cds scratched because other people didn't like what he listened to. He would come back from break and find his radio stopped working. He opens the CD player to find the disc upside down and keyed to fuck.

The people who probably scratched the disc all listened to the most garbage of garbage hip hop. Like Jules Santana, and 50 cent. I hated that shit but as much as I would have liked to damage those CDs permanently, I respected their property and freedom to choose such shitty musical taste.
