A few years ago I met some 20 something year old kids in a band out on tour.

When I asked, they said 'we're a grunge band'

Next question: Do you like The melvins?

They had never heard of them naturally.

I left it at that.

I love that they identified as a Grunge Band. It is rare that anyone would even say "I listen to Grunge". I personally have always loved the term grunge and thought it as a perfect description for the music.

Grunge = Melvins, Green River, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Malfunkshun

NOT Grunge = Alice N Chainz, Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone

Best Grunge Album by a Not Grunge Band = KISS - Carnival of Souls

Only if you are into KISS!

Many KISS freaks hate that KISS album.

It is the KISS album past Creatures of the Night that I can stand behind.

It is totally KISS jumping on the Grunge bandwagon, but since KISS inspired Grunge, I think it totally works.

Again - only if you are into KISS. I cannot recommend KISS to non-KISS fans.
