anyone who's seen the melvins multiple, or any other band multiple for that matter knows what I'm talking about when I say:

you know those nights when you feel like maybe the band is just kinda mailing it in?   the crowd is a little lame and not totally into it and the band is exhausted and has no idea what town they are in.  they are just going through the motions.

this was definetly NOT one of those nights.   I got the impression the band was feeling it.  the crowd was feeling it.  all the ducks were in a row and the stars where aligned.   it was a goosebumps night and I'm thinking the melvins were right on board with me.    buzz was sporting the camoflage mumu, which is a rarity these days.   their timing was impecable.
like I said before, it was a beautiful thing.    also, as previously stated, this joint was SMALL. smallest place I've ever seen the melvins far and away.   for those of you familiar with the old english measuring system,  I'd say it was no more than 40' from the stage to the back wall.   by the end of the set it was literally raining with humidity.   I do recall bitching to my friend about how concerned I was of the sound quality in this little shack before the melvins started. I was wrong. the sound was recording quality.   Buzz's vocals were clear to a whisper.   still can't figure out where all the reverb an echo went in this place but somehow it found a way out.

talked to John Raymond for a few.  he remembered me well from the last tour as the guy who brought them t-shirts. more about the deep, brotherly bond John and I formed the next night in my soon to be posted "long and drawn out" review of the Cleveland show.  Coady had some lovely looking young lady following him around most the night. I assume a local "fan".        also, like  said before,  Jared took things out with about a 10 minute session of telling us he loved us in whale language.    imagine a whale saying "I love you".   yep.  like that.     whilst dale fucked around with some nasty whistling feedback.   no such treat the next night in Cleveland.

all in all a highlight in my 10 time record of seeing the melvins.  an unforgetable night.

and if you think this was long winded wait till I get around to my Cleveland shpeil.

oh and one more thing....   yes I got your poster spunk,  and yes I got your gifty as well bUTTHOLEmAN.

just recalled another trivial bit of information.   dale handled vocals on most of You've Never Been Right.
sounded pretty damn good.

I've got my recording of the Melvins & Big Business sets available for trade.  Had my mics taped up on the wall by the soundboard.  Small ass venue and it was sold out.  Great show!  Big Business kicked with Toshio Kasai on guitar.  Melvins were awesome!!
