in correction of the other guy's setlist there.

no, they didn't play Oven. Thats my favorite song, I would have heard it and remembered it.

syspunk, like i said, i'm not too sure if they did.

buck, if my friend went backstage, then i totally missed it because he told me that him and his wife were leaving and taking a cab home now. we exchanged our affections, and I split thereafter.

The second picture Cheese posted, my big blonde head is in the middle. Buck is in front of me on my left.

They definitely didnt play Oven. I'd like to track down the early punk stuff, i can never find it.

I think I know the solution to this disagreement. Two different people, wto different numbers (#0 and #1), and hence only one of them went backstage. You're both right.

Hey! Glad to see you all went out and had a good time.

Let me see if I can fill in a couple of the blanks.
First of all, Dale told me a couple of weeks back that Jello was asked to do a couple of songs with them. He must not have been able to make it, obviously, as he didn't appear. Phantom Limbs is on his label.

The song that Buzz spoke of as being one of the first ones he wrote was Snake Appeal. I saw it listed here in somebody's set list. I wasn't able to get one as it didn't look like there were any around. Thanks for the help though as I didn't try to note all the songs they played.

Got a book, though I didn't know they were numbered. I can't find a number on mine . Mine was signed! Dale personalized it for me. Buzz showed me a picture of Weatherwax High School that burned down. I thought maybe it was the Morck Hotel or McDermoth Elementary. Shit, it's been so long since I had been there. Buzz said he walked up and took the photo that you see in the book. I didn't attend the high school, as I had moved by 8th grade.

Anyway, had a great time and got to hang out briefly. It's a long drive back home so we didn't get home until about 4:30. Hopefully got some good pics, being developed now. I promised Gene I'd send them his way, so they should be up on his site in a few days.

Absolutely! Yeah - i hear ya on that sixty minute set thing.  Oh man - I can still remember too many of those "Evening With theMelvins" - Wow!
I guess those were the days - and these aren't.  But that's just a fucking guess.  And actually when i think about it, let's face it - theMelvins aren't pearl Jam.  theaMElvins are (at Press time) sacrificing a little bit of quantity to Focus on Quality.  That's the way i see it.

the ether bunny

holy shit.
i was in line, talking to you, and a friend of yours before the show.

*edit*
and yes. cheesburger, you did in fact kick me in the head. thanks, bitch. :-D

in clarificating to the book numbering. If they are numbered. I'm not sure. If your book opens and you see where the signatures are....you look off to the right to see the little picture in the corner. If you see a 0 around it and a \ thru it on YOUR copy of the book then they are NOT numbered. If you don't, then my best friend has book No.0 or 1 as I call it. If thats the case, then you may now touch me to feel its presence.
I will be buying my book on Saturday because I was short on cash then.
Anyhow, I could have stolen a book right there right when we got in because the merch dude was not there. But thats fucked up. Anyhow, if the dude that claims to have book no.1 (which really would be book no.2 if we go according to the property of zero) then hes the dude that was directly behind me when I bought my T-shirt after my friend bought the first book (book no.0 to some of you).
I talked to my friend yesterday, and that one dude was right, he did go downstairs.

For the insider info: Dale, Kevin, and Mike P. were not down there. They scramed pretty fast. Buzz, Mackie, and Phantom Limps were however. My friend and his wife both shot the shit with them for a bit, then went home.

other insider info: Around 2 PM the day of the show, I was walking by the GAMH, upon walking by with some black homeless dude behind me asking for $2 so he can buy a 20 sac. I noticed the vans out there, and when I got there, BAM! There was Buzz in all his ayfro greatness. Nicest dude on the face of the planet. I asked if Jello was there. he said "Where did you hear that?" I dunno, IPECAC, I think. Or somewhere I read it. Melvins.net I think now. "I don't think IPECAC said that, but if they did, then its a Blantant lie. We never said Jello was going to be with us." I see, thats no problem "I'm apolygize if you came for that reason. I don't know who said that" It it no big deal at all, I told him. I came for you guys, It doesn't matter if Jello ain't here, I said. We chatted a bit. Mackie drove up and I saw his dogs. Coco, haha, he had a sweater on. I had to laugh. He took his pedals in, but not before shaking my hand goodbye and good day to each other.

I'd like to apologize to everyone on the board that may have been confused by my sharing with the Melvins list that Jello was asked to attend. Ipecac didn't say it. I said it. The reason I shared this information with the list is that I had heard from Dale in a phone conversation that they had asked him to do it and that he might appear. This was never promised or written in stone. Buzz was right. The Melvins never said it, collectively or in a press release or anything else. This was a conversation between two old friends. I know now to keep my mouth shut. My apologies to Melvins fans, The Melvins themselves, Jello Biafra, the host of this site or anyone else that may have been confused by my divulgence of this information. Once I contact Dale again, I will have him extend my apologies to Buzz. These are very nice people, as many of you have stated, and I'm sure they will forgive me and laugh it off. They would be justified in telling eachother to never trust me with insider information again. I'll get over it. So should you. I made a mistake.

Now onto this book numbering business. Curiously, mine has a cartoon type thought bubble rising from the doll figure's picture in the lower right corner below the signatures containing not a number or slash, but an upsidedown cross! Go figure. I think this was Buzz' way of personalizing the books.

I've been at 3 of the shows thus far.. one more (Olympia) then I'm done with vacation (aww!!)

San Fran was great. I was stuck up in the balcony however. ugh.
Portland... GREAT.. on fire. Mudhoney rocked. Insane crowd.
Seattle... GREAT. mellow crowd compared to Portland.

Seattle was sold out, I think the Showbox holds what like 1200? Portland I think was sold out.. felt like it. no place to move!!! Not sure on the GAMH... that place was small in comparison to the Crystall or Showbox.

I understand that the Capital Theatre show (Olywa) has already been sold out. Thank god for the guest list!! haha

Great show indeed.  Gotta see if my book is numbered.  Doesn't really matter.  Got to meet the band after the show and they all personalized it for me.  Including Mackie.  She was real nice.  I agree 60-70 min. set is short but sweet indeed.  Quality over quantity.  Been seeing them since '91.  They're are Kings!
