Not so sure this is an authentic TP.  Can anyone here verify?  The fact that the eventual label has been xeroxed and attached to the jacket raises suspicion for me.  I've never seen a TP for GPT, so perhaps I'm just a bit shy.  Though after 45+ years of vinyl collecting, I've seen more than just a few frauds (some better than others).  It would be interesting to know if Alchemy had the time and/ or money to do TPs at the time...

I have one identical. I have no idea if it is a test pressing, a promo or something else.

*Edit*   I posted a photo of it when I bought it, but I've just noticed Admin have deleted it so maybe it's 'something else'. It's been around since the early 90s and the one I bought was advertised as a test pressing, too ($51).  There's a story there about Stephen King's wife buying one!

Nice Jules!  Hang on to it for sure!!  I've pretty much shied away from TPs because it would open a whole new can-of-worm$ in my collecting habit$.  I do, however have a TP of (a)Senile Animal.  I consider that one to be Melvins masterpiece.  In fact, I love it so much that I have a blue box, an orange box, the TP, and a letter press edition of it.  The TP is my go-to copy because it is easier to play.  The audio is pressed on 2 vinyls back-to-back.  Likewise, the etchings are on the other two...

I also love the fact that the Hydra Head TP robots have a best friend just like my own, "Harpo!!"

I love that there are two discs with etchings on both sides. That amuses me for some reason.

My suspicion is that it is a "TP" of the recent Euro bootleg edition which sells these days as a "re-issue."  What are the matrix numbers on your copy Jules?

VM103-A-1 MPO / VM103 B-2 MPO   (Written exactly the same as on the genuine article, even with the dash before the A but no dash before the B.)

Neither of the matrices on either of the recent European bootlegs come close.

Someone has just used the term 'vanity press' (in other words a bootleg). I suspect they're in very small quantities and very old, though, considering how rarely they're spotted.

Interesting indeed!  Especially in light of what one of the Melvins had to say about it.  Like I said before; hang on to it!!

Amphetamine Amphibian

Hey there.  I just joined to see if anyone wanted to trade records. I've got extra copies of the Tribute to Roxy Music from the AmRep clown series.  Anyone up for a trade?  I'm looking for the rest of the series except the kinks tribute and the pop-o-pies / tales of terror (already have them).  I'd be interested in any of the other clowns or just about any decent trade you could throw at me.  Thanks!

For those of us who love letterpress CDs;  Mark at Vacation Vinyl Los Angeles (323 666-2111 or vacationvinyl@gmail.com) has a 13-CD Box up for reasonable offers.  More photos and description here at Discogs:  http://www.discogs.com/Melvins-13-CD-Box-Set/release/3643991

Pay no attention to the $2000 asking price at Discogs. In my opinion, we just aren't there yet with this one...

I hear you Darlin' and feel your pain.  I just can't see picking it up when I have many of these on letterpress already.  Some from a much smaller editon than 222.  Still, it is an awfully nice set indeed.  I'm sure it will fetch $2000 and up in 10 years time...
