The Melvins rock stuff is better than their noise stuff.  Honestly I don't think they'll put out much noise records anymore because it's simply not fun for them to play it live.  They probably never even played Mark D's stupid song "Lacrimosa" (from the Stag album) or "Sterilized".

They have played "Lacrimosa" live

just looking at the track list on the home page.... my version is different, Billy Fish is track 3 on my "version", I'm guessing Dog Island is the track i was refering to as track 2. People who know, would know this as the "Zepplin" sounding opening drum/riff. I also agree about that song sounding like the intro to the shinning. IT HAS TO BE A COVER!!! It also needs to be the intro song for every Melvins set for at least the next year. F'n Brilliant album

Here's the correct tracklist:

1. The Kicking Machine
2. Billy Fish
3. Dog Island
4. Dies Irea
5. Suicide In Progress
6. The Smiling Cobra
7. Nude With Boots
8. Flush
9. The Stupid Creep
10. The Savage Hippy
11. It Tastes Better Than The Truth

That's pretty much the opposite of what Buzz and Dale say about that.  They love the noise and they love making it. Rest assured, they will go there again.

I'm not just a fan of both the noise stuff and the rock stuff, I'm a fan of the fact that they do both. I don't think either side of the coin would be as great without the other. I also honestly don't think the two sides are as far apart as others seem to take them.  The rock stuff is noisey and weird as hell too, and the noise stuff has the same power and drama they put into the rock.

(the) Razor

Nude With Boots has a riff that sounds almost like the beginning of Happy Birthday...it gets me all the time.

I love the Noise stuff. It's interesting. EGO's right. Plus when they're combined, like in songs like Specimen, it's sounds great.

I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED JUST LIKE WENDY CARLOS' OPENING TO THE SHINING TOO!
it sounds exactly like it.
very cool and creepy

i wish album art or a video gets put out soon

Like Stee

It often takes me a while to get into a Melvins record, but somehow I feel (much like with ASA) this album lacks any standout heavy/doom kind of tracks like At The Stake, Anti-vermin Seed, etc.  Slower drums=heavy, heavier, heaviest.

maybe that doesn't interest them at present, kind of in a "been there done that" sense...

Listen again zipster, there more depth to NWB than you think.

p.s. I've re-sequenced the album in itunes and
i think it flows better like this:
