I'm over thirty, and have to tell you priorities change when you've got a kid, and a career and bills(or at least they should).  I like all kinds of different music.  But I find it hard to like a band when I can't respect the people in the band.  So I stopped paying attention to all that. If I hear music I like, I go with it, and don't read the articles or worry about if they're selling out on the radio or Mtv.  I don't care what the "most awesomest fan ever" says about them, I just listen to the music.  It's easy to do when you're over the hill.  As far as what kinds of fans a band has...look around you, there's stupid people everywhere.  The law of averages says some of them are going to like the same music you like too.  Someday kiddies, you'll listen to NPR more than you listen to hipster FM too.  Ooooh scary!

OOps I posted this in the wrong thread,  and there was a lot of typing, so pretend this is the other Tool topic.

Without Tool, I don't know if I would have gotten into the Melvins.

Or Bill Hicks, or Mr Show...

I guess I wasn't a fan of them post Aenima, but Lateralus and 10,000 days are ok. I guess. Even The Melvins sound a little samey now a days.

I've been getting into "guilty pleasure" music recently, namely, Toto, Dio, The Outfield... shit like that.
