I wonder if it's authentic equipment from the 80's for a true retro sound?

Go ahead and call me an asshole now, but I've known him since the early 90s.  One of his bands played in my basement in Philly a couple times. I forget which. His resume includes The Monorchid, Skull Kontrol, The Wrangler Brutes and some other bands.
