Not at all. Walsby will be on the whole tour. Buy one from the guy. Good art, and he's a cool dude. Imagine being on the tour and standing behind the merch shack, not getting to see the show and dealing with drunken dicks. It's got to be exhausting. He's a friendly fellow, and like the merch guy from the 06 tour ( john) he desreves some respect and a tip.
And I started this thread to see some more of his art as the tour progresses, not to rub it in anyones face.

As far as I know, he's going to be around, but Walsby is the main merch seller.

I got a pretty cool one in Detroit last night. When I can get a proper picture of it I'll post it up (I don't have a digital camera)....Might be a week or so before I can..
I asked walsby to make me a personalized one for the board. he said he would later after the show. but by the time the end of the show came i was pretty much flat broke.
if you read the detroit review notice how everyone who was in attendance makes at least one mention of being "without money". notice a trend in the great state of michigan?
but anyway... one funny thing. walsby said that he was purposely trying to make offensive posters to piss people off and couldn't seem to accomplish that. he said he'd make them that said "fuck children! rape nuns! overdose on drugs!" or whatever and some kid would walk up and say "that is fucking cool man!". he seemed almost depressed by that. society is in a sad sad state.
I had a feeling he was trying to make "insulting" posters. I bought one which is similar to the one posted by sweet intuition. Bong smoke, rainbow of sabbath, except the bottom says, "stoner rock is for pussies". I could care less since I don't typically associate the term stoner rock with the melvins or anyone else for that matter. I had a feeling its more of an inside joke about how reviewers always tag the melvins with being sabbath sludge, stoner rock, or some other generic term which means jack shit. The fact that I'm a stoner who bought a poster with bongs on it is just a coincidence ;)
As promised, here is the picture of my Walsby from the Detroit show...I'm happy with my purchase...Sorry, I couldn't get a decent pic of the whole poster..Kept coming out blurry.

i bought like ~$160 of stuff from him (spent about $100 at each of the last two melvs shows i went to) and he only charged me like $110 because he couldn't count and was a bit overwhelmed at trying to keep up with what i was telling him to give me. i told him that it wasn't right because i want to support the band and he was already sweating and just said 'close enough' so i threw him a $5 tip for his troubles. the tip jar was empty before that.
the poster i bought has a bong drawn on the back, and when i picked it up Waltsby was like "oh, sorry about that. i guess i drew a bong on the back of that one." I told him that it just made it better.

Boy oh boy...suddenly Justin calls Buzz and tells him to get off of the highway at a certain exit so he can show him what he plans to plant Dale Crover with. Yes, it was decided that Dale would be the lucky fellow. So we pull off and meet this rather large young looking man who happens to be a highway patrol person. Introductions were made and soon he pulled out a small travel bag that had:
two giant bags of fake cocaine.
a small scale to weigh..
a real bag of marijuana. "I just got this off of a kid a few days ago!"
BUZZ AND JUSTIN BEFORE THE HIJINKS BEGAN.
Justin said that he was going to pull the van, search the back of the vehicle, obviously plant this bag, call out Dale and arrest him and throw him in the back of his car. As we said goodbye and he got ready to do the deed, I wondered what everyone would be thinking. I was so glad I wasn't in the other vehicle.
So sure enough, they all fell for it. Wouldn't you? I guessed that even though everyone might be really mad afterwards, just the idea that I wasn't going to be in big trouble or going to jail for ten years would be such a relief that I probably wouldn't be too upset.
They are going to get Buzz back, though. Somehow. "What could possibly top that?" Buzz asked.
Oh, I don't know..they'll think of something I am sure.

Buzz runs the band like the Yankees run a baseball team. As good as the current players are, he's always got something brewing in the farm team, or a quick robbery of somone else's star lineup. Maybe the feds will find the "missing" evidence from the unsolved Cobain murder in Buzz's guitar case.
