email to tom flynn of boner records:
last weekend i have been at england to visit all tomorrow parties which have been curated by the melvins and some guy told me that boner will re-release all melvins vinyls with revisited artwork and bonus stuff...
is this true? can you tell me more? when will this happen? limited to 700, is this right?
answer by tom flynn:
Yes, we're rereleasing Ozma, Bullhead, and s/t on vinyl and CD, with extras and revised artwork. They won't be limited editions.
I don't know how soon it will be, it's all up to Buzz to get the music and art to me.
Tom
Sounds good, who told you? Just some fellow attendee or someone who's name cannot be mentioned? ;)
I want to know what the extras are, hopefully there will be some liner notes there, can't get enough of them.
Lots of reissuing going on in Melvins camp, all the Ipecac stuff now this. Funny how he says s/t instead of Lysol.
Remasters? Or just reissues. Ozma could do with a touch up I think.
Ozma remix/remaster would be sweet.
Don't need to revise any artwork though.
Any "extras" would be much appreciated.
i think i have heard something of remastered to, but i am not 100% sure

:? for Buzz that would be for sure, personally don't know
very cool.
BONER :D
It's gonna be a while before these come out.
Awesome!
Although I kind of wish they were limited editions.
Will Ozma no longer have Gluey on it?
Ozma/Gluey is one record to me.
Spent most of high school with that album stuck in my cars cd player.
Anyways, good news,

I still do. Does wonders to encourage a little bit of road rage!
this is great and all, but no eggnog? it's a great melvins boner release and goes right between bullhead and lysol.
some say it was their greatest boner release.
Ozma sounds better than Lysol and Bullhead.

you're better off putting cd's in cd players. :P

Ozma is the one that needs remastering the most. [-(
I wish they re-recorded one of them instead of Houdini. Houdini, really?

What would you do to it? The vocals and drums are loud and crisp, and the guitar tone is is fantastic. The bass sounds tinny, yeah, but would remastering change that? If it was just louder it would make the vocals and cymbals TOO loud, in my opinion.
I wouldn't touch any of these albums. I will, however, buy them the minute they're available. :(
Ozma isn't half as loud as most of thier other albums. You can tweak the vocals, bass and cymbals individually because they are at different frequencies. There are a lot of things you can do with a recording that you couldn't do 20 years ago.

Houdini is awesome.
I like Houdini, just not as much as Ozma or Bullhead.
i bet they tack eggnog onto the new bullhead re-issue ala ozma/gpt
I found Eggnog, S/T and Bullhead in an actual CD shop the other day. It was weird.
Anyway, I just think that Ozma's perculiar sound works really well with the roll-less rock music on that particular CD. It sounds like a robot, if that makes sense.

Was Candy O ever played live?
i would say no,but i'm not sure
Wasn't the entire Ozma album recorded live? ;)
I'd say no, unless someone shows me evidence! But then again, the more I learn about Melvins set lists during their career, the more I realize I don't know shit about all the cool stuff they've tortured and pleased their audiences with.
Anyway..... liner notes!
there is something of insane in Ozma's songwriting.i'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to write stuff like that now.
MY GOD! I'm getting these immediate when/if/should they come out! I really hope for some liner notes, though. Buzz is a total nutjob on those, and some of his stories are priceless!
I have yet to hear Ozma, but Lysol and Bullhead are my favorites. If Bullhead's re-mastered sound is akin to how Spine of God was re-mastered, then it'll be LOUD AND AWESOME.

Wouldn't that have something to do with man's inability to unlearn?

That's it, I'm getting it right now. And I own the original 10 Songs, which I listened to twice.

they cannot write stuff like that now and i'm not speaking technically, probably they're better musicians now.there's only a time for stuff like that.opinions
Im still hoping they are going to re-play these albums with big business and add certain unexpected changes to them like with electroretard.

Bullhead - Ozma 2-1
i didnt know we were keeping score. that is true, if im interpreting it properly... I remember them playing a really good "cow" and "ligature" live witht he current line up. but I dont know if anyone remembers on the tour right before a senile came out...melvins did really awesome oven where they would pause for longer periods of time then come back into the song with precision.
