Wow that looks like all kinds of suck. That's too bad because there are several awesome bands mixed in with many awful bands.
I wouldn't doubt them playing some headlining shows along the way though. Only makes sense that they would. Maybe the night before for you in Melbourne?
Yeah, i'll be going to any headlining shows they play also. I'm hoping that they actually bring Big Business this time so i finally get to see them live too.
True, there is only a small handful of bands on the soundwave bill that i'd want to see. Some just out of curiosity.
So Veara is playing at a festival with Primus and The Melvins? If there was the slightest part of me that was the least bit agnostic it is forever gone. There is officially no god. Officially.
I've never heard of Veara. Are they rubbish?
QOTSA, Melvins, High On Fire and Primus!
Only seen one of them and always wanted to see Primus - definitely going. 8)
I'm pretty keen to check out The Sword and Kylesa too.

Saying they are rubbish is too kind. I grew up with the guitarist and I know for a fact he is only concerned about the money and fame. In the off chance that he actually reads this I'll leave it at that.

Mr Luck: every time you post I'm drawn to that monstrous avatar of yours. Every time I try not to look, but every time I do, and end up SCREAMING with laughter. My neighbours know I'm alone, and still they hear me, on and on it goes. When will it end?

fuck i hope they play their own shows- at least in melbourne!
...really, really don't want to go to a festival solely to see them and i haven't seen one other band i'm interested in seeing on the bill.

I'm actually curious to see what kind of crowd they pull at the festival.
I'm sure they'll do a Ding Dong show while in Melbourne. Hopefully with Big Biz in the support slot.
hopefully perth too, considering its the last date on the tour.
long way to come for a festival slot.
i am in agreement that i hope that they have their own headlining show, festivals ain't really my thing. but i will be going to any shows they play in perth and hopefuly recording them too

As long as I like funny avatars, never. :P
Good to see them finally doing a decent Aussie tour with Big Business. Sure I'd prefer a proper tour rather than a festival, but this will do.
There's a few good bands on the lineup - Primus, High On Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Kylsea and Slayer are all enough to interest me. I thought the lineup for this years Soundwave was better, but I'll still be at this one. Sure there's plenty of shitty bands on the list, but who cares, just see the ones you like and ignore the ones you don't...
they MUST play their own shows!
the soundwave festival is a bunch of shit...
Primus have announced they will be playing a sidewave show in Melbourne supported by the Melvins.
Thursday 3rd March
cheers for the info!
...guess that's as close as i'm gonna get to a headline show.

I know that and the bloody Faith No More reunion are delaying the next Fantomas album even longer! ;)
FasterLouder presents Primus and the Melvins Sidewave:
Monday 28th February
don't suppose anyone would have any ideas what kind of setlist to expect at either shows (opening for primus/soundwave)??
the melvins must be GETTING PAID cause that lineup is all kinds of shitty... dolla dolla bills y'all!!

It's not as bad as festivals usually are. Plus I completely get Buzz's mentality of not wanting to preach to the choir all the time.
If you show up early, boo Veara.
but usually at big festivals like that bands dont get to much time on stage... but it would still be bad ass.. melvins are bad ass no matter what the situation or venue
any band plays any festival for the money.
it's all cool as long as bands play 'real' shows outside these ridiculous events, which i'm hoping the melvins will be doing when they support primus.
SC3 toured with claypool and the got about 45mins, so i'm a tad concerned we won't be getting a long melvins set- but you never know!
...either way it's better than paying through the ass to barely 'see' their set at that terrible festival.
still hoping for a 'secret' show in melb. at a tiny venue like the ding dong or something too.
Set times for people that are going.

I'm going to Brisbane - Slayer then Melvins, not bad! Go get pissed for a bit, then go see Iron Maiden! Pretty sweet.
Looks like I'll be drinking beers killing time between High On Fire and Slayer. A little bummed - I would have liked to see Kylesa.
30 minute set on stage 4 in perth, bit lame.
last year ran the lighting console on stage 3... see what happens this year. that weekend is always huge for music in perth (public holiday monday). 2 huge festivals and normally a few other major gigs, means not enough sound/lights equipment to go round for our little isolated city. equipment being ripped out and chaotically transferred from gig to gig, not much if any sleep over 3 days. fun fun fun.
Melvins only doing a 30 min set in Adelaide? Thank fuck I'm not going.
$160 my ass.
yeah, thats ridiculous... but i would probably pay 160 to see the king in action..especailly since it doesnt seem like they get to australlia that often
The last time I saw them was about 7 years ago and they were good but the short set and rubbish bill is just too much. The only other band I really care to see is Primus (would love it if those two were doing a show together in Adelaide) and I think their set starts as soon as the Melvins set finishes. So all up a 30 min set from the Melvins and about 40 mins worth of Primus for around $160 for the ticket, taxi fares too and from (don't have a car) about $20 total and beers are around $8 a pop so factor in two beers and all up around $200. Just too much money.
I'll try and win a ticket in the local street press magazines if so then the night would only cost me around $40.
"When he arrives in Australia next month for the Soundwave tour, Osborne and The Melvins will play sideshows with Primus at the special request of frontman Les Claypool.

Don't buy beer. In the US our liquor stores sell shot samples for about a buck each. I always buy a few of those and drink them before going into the place or sneak them in.
According to this interview, http://www.theaureview.com/interviews/buzz-osborne-melvins-usa, (http://www.theaureview.com/interviews/buzz-osborne-melvins-usa,) their set will be 40-45min. Slayer, High on Fire, Kylesa, and a few others are playing too. I'd say it's worth the money since they don't go there often.

in perth at least it 3o minutes.
edit: i lie, its 40.
even 45mins is way too short...
'secret' shows?!?
Primus/Melvins sideshow in Melbourne now sold out.
hmmm just read that Saxon are not going to play at Soundwave or their sidewave w/The Sword
I know this totally will not happen but I would LOVE Melvins to be the headline at The Sword sidewave...
Dreams don't have to be realistic!!
Yeah, Saxon got screwed on their playing time. How many people that actually want to see them would turn up that early?

Agreed, but it's better than nothing!
Which reminds me I still need to collect my ticket, hey wayniac? 8)
that sucks about Saxon, they are a great live band. I saw them in a double bill with Motorhead
and they actually stole the show. They closed with a 15 min. version of Denim and Leather that
saw every member take an extended solo. It was sick.

And yes The Fool you do need to collect your ticket... You due to be in my area anytime soon? I can post it to you if you like, or even give it to you there???
Probably already mentioned, but Melvins will be back in Straya later this year. 8)
awesome!

Well Melvins made up for all the shitty queues and high prices for Soundwave!!! Fuck Rob Zombie up his stupid arse for running overtime 10 minutes, but fucking awesome performance! Virtually identical setlist to the night before but it workd oh so well!
