Walsby can't be the only one. I think it would be cool to see other art, ie: drawings, poems, short stories, etc. I don't know if this has been done in an older post, if so school me. I imagine there some creative types on the forum. So feel free to post your work here.
Ok so I did a search and found art, some really amazing stuff. So I guess this thread can be reserved for poems/short stories.

I was thinking the same thing....
By the way, is that silkscreen?
Conda, that is classic. I think someone here should get a tattoo of that on their face.
crazy work yourself judy! i like the mixed media elements. really, really nice. mine's not silkscreen, it's all done digitally but using outside textures and what not to give it a bit of a silkscreened look.
thanks mike, i haven't done any posters for melvins as of yet, but someday, dammit! my hope springs eternal...

So... Mark and Lori are obvious. I assume that's Kevin, Joe, and Mike on the far left? Which one is Matt Lukin? And that still leaves one mystery person
The third guy in is Dave Scott Stone not Mike. Then I think that's gotta be Lukin in the flannel in
the middle. The dude on the end could be Pat Fear or Bill Bartell? from the Houdini sessions maybe.

First off... everything posted in this thread is incredible. I am envious of all the artistic talent!
Secondly... those who aren't good artists such as myself seek out 1920/30's lithographs on ebay and get them custom framed.
My living room just got a whole lot cooler! (had to take it down off the wall to get a good photo tho)

That looks great! Excellent mat/frame decisions. I found my copy of that litho at a garage sale in '99. $4! I just dug it out and took it to the frame shop today...thanks for the inspiration.
I just found this in my basement...Melvins pencil sketch by street artist David Choe. This was an add-on to a separate commission in 2003, and frankly he kinda phoned it in, but still, an interesting oddity. H.A.T. era band, obviously, although Kevin looks like he's in a high school production of "Julius Caesar".

Thanks, The lithograph itself was only $18. There's a seller on ebay who has a ton of them in various sizes. I got the largest 14X18. After a trip to Michaels I realized that place sucks and also 14X18 is not a normal size. I spent way too much money having a frame shop just do it for me but I am very pleased with how it came out. In the words of the Dude, "It really holds the room together"
(If anyone seeks one of these awesome lithographs heres the seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/14X18-APPEAL-TO-THE-GREAT-SPIRITS-ANTIQUE-LITHOGRAPH-/330402567754?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ced87164a#ht_1980wt_1397 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/14X18-APPEAL-TO-THE-GREAT-SPIRITS-ANTIQUE-LITHOGRAPH-/330402567754?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ced87164a#ht_1980wt_1397) )

Very nice. Choe's work is pretty cool. You know he made about $200 million on the Facebook IPO (he painted murals at their offices and received stock instead of cash)? The stock hasn't done very well, so I guess if he didn't sell right away he might be down to $100M.

The lower one is fairly new. I drew it the night before I saw Melvins in Detroit, and planned to give it to Trevor. Sadly, I chickened out.
I actually do have video footage of me burning the fuck out of the Big Buzzo and maybe the Five piecer, too.
I'd have to dig around for it though. I for sure have photos. the video is probably on my external hard-drive.
Just to clarify, because I got a message from someone asking .... I don't burn them to the ground. The pieces are on wood, and I set them on fire to get certain textures. The process is paint, fire, paint, fire, paint, fire, etc until satisfied. Plus I think it's funzies.
:)
lolz @ funzies, yes plz digz outz said videoz. I needz the full process not the pix. I wish I could light my bass on fire today but alas, it wouldn't do anything creative for me. I'm jealous that you get to use fire in your field! The only fire that's helping me before my gig is a lighter above a bong! lolz

Meeew! How wonderful these are! This should be in the next Melvins album!!!
Aw thanks guys! All of your nice comments make me feel warm with mushy insides :)
I just suddenly had the idea that it might be cool to see an animated Melvins music video or some kind of artwork where Buzzo's hair was like that of Medusa!! You know all snakes writhing around and being generally cool etc. A snake afro no less!!! :o
I was working on a two-headed alien cut, and seem to have misplaced my metal roller so started to carve something new that required less detail. Thought I'd try taking that Lite drawing that I made.
Can't decided if I should add a color. I kinda did this one for practice reasons.
Must admit, my hand feels destroyed after all of that work. And yes, I know it's backwards :x

I thought she was being Legit, and asked her out the next week and she gave me the WHOAH WHAT!!! look...and I was like...*ooooooh---shit.* anyway I called her RIcky After that cuz its short for Erika, but none of the other Dumb bitch Servers knew who I was Reffering to for a long time, when I was like; So I guess RIck went home already... and they were like; whos Rick, and im like---oh, ricky...Erika..and they were like...ooohhh hahahah...she HAD A BOYFRIEND, like how am I supposed to fucking know if your saying we should go out and talk over Coffee, Like WTF is that supposed to be all about man. Ima Call you Rick or ricky from now on if thats ok with you.
LOL!!! :P :P :P
Radicool
Thanks! Still feel like I lost a lot of detail due to my missing roller :?
What do you guys think? Should I add a color, or leave mono-tone? I don't want to put too much into it because it was just a practice block; I wanted to stick with something simple, and familiar. Still want to make the best of it though, because it was several hours of work, and my wrists are still sore! That Haze must have hands of steel.
If anyone out there is interested in this particular print, pipe up now before I forget it and get to work on a new one. All in all, a very fun and interesting process! Looking forward to messing around with it more.
Oh. One more thing....
Dumpy? Please don't call me Ricky

I'm astounded.
At the same time they just make me even sadder that I'm stuck in a situation where I cannot dabble in carvings.
I started three linos four years ago just to try what it is like, also inspired by Haze. But, my family situation still has not given me a chance to finish even one of them. And two of them are no bigger than 15x20 cm
At least I have your and Haze's art to marvel - and hope that some day I get properly inspired and back to practising again.

Sure, but in that case the donuts on top of Homer's belly would have blocked Buzz's face.

Thank you, Godflesh. Definitely not my normal medium when making art so I can also say I was inspired by Haze. The idea of being able to make the same thing over and over again without exact replication was intriguing to me.
The first cut I did was wood-and probably turned out the best. My second and third tries were the two headed alien and the Melvins cut seen above, which were both lino. Wayyyy easier to cut but a little trickier to print. Printing is the hardest part, actually, because technical aspects and application are so important. Word of advice - don't be cheap with the ink. Get the good stuff which comes in a can, and not a tube. Once you get the first layer on (so important that it is applied very evenly!) and let it dry, a little bit of ink will get you a really long way. Made lots of mistakes so far but that's all a part of the learning process!! I actually got a new roller and made some new prints shortly after posting these - having a good one was essential as it picked up a lot more detail. If you spend the time carving, you want people to see what you did, right!?!?!
Good luck on finishing yours, as I'm sure you will someday!! It is a real fun way to slice up some fingers ;)
Not Melvins inspired artwork but perhaps vice versa.
This might have moved Mackie towards the Freak Puke art.

It's not exactly art but I made record boxes to house all my Melvins records. One for 10"-12"s and one for 7"s. I was going to paint the stag flowers all over them but I thought the classic, simple yet sleek rocking m would be better.
Nice job there.
Nice. Where's the Bar X? That's a brand as well ( -X, X-, X, but probably with the bar over the X most likely...)
Yea I just did the rocking m from the brand that's on mike d's horse in the stag art and on the prick cd too if I'm not mistaken. I'm thinking of getting a small rocking m tattoo. Maybe on my butt cheek just like the horse.
