According to FB they are rehearsing for the record store show. They are probably just going through set list ideas. Just basic tracking. Maybe some of the acoustic songs are being tried in the set.
Electric versions of the those songs would be epic.

My guess is that what we see in the rehearsal photo is what we will see in the Melvins set today. Buzz on acoustic guitar and Dale on that cocktail kit. I do not think that Coady, Jared, Pinkus, Trevor or even Kevin will be playing with them.
I am excited as I have not seen a Melvins instore since the one on New Years Day in 2005 at Electric Heavyland in Seattle! Going to go get in line now as I think there might only be room for about 50 people in that place.

dale has adjusted the bass pedal mallet assembly to be reversed so that
its striking the bottom skin of the floor tom on a backswing rather than
forward as it would on a conventional bass drum. something like this kit:

I love that Dale just wants to rock. You can tell he's probably thinking "God, would you shut UP!" during Buzz's ranting :lol:. 30 plus years, I'm sure he's heard everything times two! I really hope this snowballs into a tour or an album with this setup. We've all seen Dale pull off some nice nuances and now with Buzz's acoustic tour/album we got to see some of Buzz's nuance in a form never before. I just wish I could have been there just to hear Dark Brown Teeth and The Bloated Pope (Dales solo is so tits O.M.G.), oh and Electric Flower. You can't tell what's going on with Buzz and his guitar in a lot of the stuff. I'm sure standing right there Buzz's guitar sound is just as powerful as Dale's.
Also I wish that dude on the left would step over a bit so we can see Dales entire kit. Fucker. That kit is just the bees knees and I love how he plays it so effortlessly behind that kit.

I was thinking the same! It gets on my nerves hearing artists talk between songs. I know many people like to hear the stories Buzz tells but i find it very unnecessary myself.

Buzz talks between songs mostly during acoustic sets..the acoustic tour was simply brilliant,i was lucky enough to catch it and i must say the stories were perfect for the intimate atmosphere of the set. i doubt Dale was pissed for Buzz talking,they work so well together

i know what you mean,i've always been a fan of the fact Melvins weren't too much for encores or for talking with the crowd. but i can definitely see the point of telling stories during an acoustic set. especially when you're are an intelligent guy with a cool sense of humour like Buzzo

I don't think Dale was pissed at all. You can tell though that he just wants to rock. I think when Buzz gets that acoustic in his hands he wants to start telling stories. There are a few moments though were you can see the annoyance on Dales face. That being said it's not like he kick the drums over and peaced out. Also from what I've seen the little Hold It In tour was back to the basics, all rock, no talk. To me Dale just seemed antsy during all the talking. Remember he's the shy one. :love:

What's funny about that is that was the first time I ever heard banter from Buzz. I remember it vividly. It was the first time I saw them here in MPLS.

Dale's wife and kids were at the show. Long live the on-stage rantings of King Buzzo! One of my favorites is when a fight broke out at the 20th Anniversary Show in Olympia after a jackass jumped on stage. Buzz told people to "Take their violence to the streets!". That and the "You like Hogan's Heroes?" bit on the live in Germany album!
