One of the most annoying live bands period. When they toured with Helmet in '97, they played a song for about 20+ minutes of just distortion and no one was on the same page. To top it off, the drummer was wearing a speedo and they had the Energizer Bunny hopping around on the stage in a big pink outfit. It was humorous but at the same time, just ridiculous. I know they have been around for years and have a huge following but they gave me a headache and people were throwing shit at them.
rutmanis always sucked, standing there smacked out in a gown doing his cerebral palsy spin. mark d. was the best but he was a fuckin dork too. they just can't seem to get the right guy. since day one. but, they are the melvins and they are fucking gnarly live.
How can anyone hate the Melvins, it's.... it's.... IT'S WRONG!

When they made this album i reckon they probably laughed to themselves at the thought of people buyin it and convincing themselves that it is actually good, but it is infact a piece of crap. These designers (in this case the Melvins) made a new suit (album-honky) for the king (you) and at first the king (you) was extremely dissapointed because the suit (album-honky) was such a piece of shit........infact it was so crap that it was supposed to be invisible...(only smart rich people could see it) so the king (you) said "ohh thats a fantastic suit........so he goes about naked wearing nothin cos he WAS A FUCKIN IDIOT.
I hope you see what im trying to say here......... Honky=the Suit and the Suit=Crap. Dont be like the emperor ......see the suit for what it is.

Thank God my wife now sees the light. She was absolutely stoked by the melvins/big business show. Her third Melvins show and she finally "got it".
Who knows how long the relationship could have lasted if she hated the melvins :)

But anymore, the people I turn on to them seem to appreciate the fact that I took the time to expose them to it. A good friend of mine said recently, "I can't believe I've never heard of these guys. Jesus. Buy me a ticket to the Mr Small's show!" Granted, he was a wee tot when Ozma was released.

I have never heard the melvins music, seen a concert or even heard about them before, but Im pretty sure I hate them...
I'm not a regular visitor of the SY board, but a while ago I checked it out to see if there was anyone with a spot left for ATP for a friend, and I couldn't help performing a search for 'melvins' while I was there. One of the threads went something like this.
