06 February 2007 (Duration 27:14)
Jason catches up with King Buzzo of the Melvins just after sound check at London's Scala. Hear Buzz spill the beans on the expanded line up (with Big Business), what's next on Ipecac and the pure joy that is double drums. Includes tracks from the new album (A) Senile Animal.

Buzz seems very resistant to namedrop any current bands that claim to be influenced by them. I wonder what he thinks of bands like Boris and Sunn. He mentions how a lot of bands that cite the melvins as an influence only portray one aspect of their sound(probably the super heavy lumbering stuff) They ARE playing with Boris next month, and they seem to be more his speed, a band constantly trying new things.

Some time ago he stated he has never heard Sunn, don't know where or when exactly. Can't be too long ago. In Wire magazine he said, without referring to any band in specific, that he thinks so called 'avant garde improvisational composers' - or something among that line - are just a bunch of lazy idiots.
I have heard time believing he hasnt heard of Sunn. I mean he produced Goatsnake's first album (which features Sunn guitarist Greg Anderson).

He has indeed. That was the late 90s right? I am not sure how active Sunn were at the moment. Plus, producing Goatsnake has nothing to do with listening to other band member's musical projects. So, anyway. If Buzz has indeed stated once he hadn't heard Sunn, I'm sure he's speaking the truth.
I remember that interview myself. But Buzz has also stated that he lies a lot in interviews

Can that interview be found on the internet somewhere? Because I remember him stating 'the internet is full of lies'.
I live a lie on the internet.

Hi Buzz cut, Schnabel A is usually the greeter for the melvins.. net, or even Glen, but I'll be honoured to welcome you. As you can tell, I'm the most popular and coolest here (~karma). Lots of Europeans here, but you wouldn't know, because their english is pretty spot on. Go melvins!

I just came across this, and remembered this post. Here it is: http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index.php?title=The_Melvins_sell_out%21
I started to burn a CD of this podcast and that's when I noticed a noise.
The noise is annoying.
It reminded me of the Poolside chat Buzzo did with Neil Hamberger. I started to wonder if Buzzo moves around on purpose to fuck with the interviewer's finished product? Maybe he does this for fun, sort of the way he looks into space when he gets his picture taken with an adoring fan? He had to know that by moving around the tape would pick up his movements on his mic. I wonder if Vinny's interview picked up any strange noises?
Anyone from Austin remember the 13th Floor Elevators? The electric jug worked for a while and then became annoying. The noise I'm taking about sounds a lot like that electric jug.
Anyway, for the noises I'm hearing Buzzo's mic must have been clipped to his clothes somewhere.
Can someone back me up on this or did I get a bum download?
I hear it too, but at the beginning, the interviewer says there's some noise and that it's a lo-fi broadcast.
i think it's buzz tapping his fingers.
