Ok, quick note I am deadtired.
Great show, opened with The Talking Horse and went in to The Bloated Pope, then Sky Pup. They pretty much played the whole new album with some old ones thrown in, and a medley in the middle. The show ended with Ballad Of Dwight Fry. No encore.
I thought it was great show with a great flow of songs and a LOT of drumming, instead of the normal feedback parties between songs it was big drum orgies instead.
Buzz talked one time: i have only driven though here before so it is nice to see that people actually live here. you know in minnesota in the US they told me don't go to sweden people are assholes there, and he was right. just kidding. it is great to be here, and i would rather play for you tonight then in minnesota.
One more thing.
They were selling the Melvins/Fantomas t-shirt with the teeth, the Melvins one with the octupus, a longsleeve girlie with the octupus, a different shirt with a pink octupus, a poster for the show and a bunch o cd's. Pretty damn good prices on everything.
Good night.
Any pictures of the shirts? THANKSSS!!
Awesome show, raped and everything . Opened up with a bang and porn did a great job. Since i'm not that familiar with all of melvins albums I didnt recognize all the songs.
BUT about the shirts. I dont have pictures. But I got myself the porn shirt..the last large...hell yeah 8)
The other melvins shirt besides the big band shirt and the octupus was a shirt with a green thing on it and (the) Melvins written on it..i think it had something green on its back as well.
And yes, ALOT of drumming which was awesome :D but i must say...you could feel the crowds disappointment when they didnt come out for an encore...
Though the crowd didnt give back much either for that matter
Nice! thanks for the review
Btw, I'd love to have the setlist if anyone that remembers it could be bothered to post it...I like to download all the songs from a show I've seen that I haven't heard before

No encore.
Imagine that.
Thanks for sharing, skpprn.
You mean that they never play an encore? I'm just curious since I JUST DON'T KNOW!
Thanks for the reviews guys.
Khorde, get yourself their the latest album, A Senile Animal, a good amount of songs are from that album. Other songs they played are probably Oven (Ozma), Hooch, Sky Pup, Set Me Straight (Houdini), Revolve (Stoner Witch), The Bit (Stag), The Bloated Pope (Pigs of the Roman Empire). That's from the top off my head, but it gives you a good idea.
I have houdini and a senile animal, but thanks!
one of the last songs(i think it was the second to last) he sang smething about "I am alive/I have found silver/which will you follow?"something like..i'd love to know which song that was
EDIT: OH it was the bit! AWESOME
Yep, that's The Bit. Just for geeks, Mastodon does a pretty good cover version.

give me the real deal or give me nothing.

Well its their latest that have made me respect them more, they really put on the armor and that album and show BALLS.
Manly, sweaty, metal, badass, balls to the walls.
My question from before remains though, don't the Melvins play encores?
Quote from: Khorde on April 05, 2007, 11:18:30 AM

no. not anymore. they play an almost mechanical set. song for song. night in and night out. at the end of that 15 (or whatever) song set the night is over. come applause, come riots, come looting, come fire, the night is over.
I wish they were playing in MInnesota, no Grumpy's shows this spring has me grumpy.
One more question for the crowd, Jared ended with singing accompanied by marching drums, which song was that? Or was that something they've made up themselves? Sounded Queenish to me. Which is positive.
something fourth of july ruined.
another
Great, thanks!

I think they added Night Goat to the set at the end of last years US tour. They didn't play that at the beginning did they? I know they played it in Portland and Seattle.
But other then that, they never mix it up. Which is ok, they play what they play, and they have it down to a 'T'.

I must say I agree, and not just because this ugly prick has my name, but because the bastard is missing one n. Only faggots are named Glen with one n, it means valley, like a crease.
All those bands on the tribute album are embarrassing. Spineshanks, slipspines, spineknot, shankguage, etc.. Hacks, for sure.
The only cover I like is the Shevil one, and I think I was really drunk and stoned when I enjoyed that. Meatjack? Fuck, embarrassing, but I did like that one.

actually dude, my only point was that Another Fourth Of July Ruined is a Big Business song and NOT a MELVINS song. it
was the song Big Business ended with, then merging into the MELVINS set. just wanted to make sure you understood it is a BB song.

And i realize what your saying, but they didnt end with that song before the melvins set begun, they ended the melvins set with jared singing that song alone to the crowd.
Or...maybe we just fail at understanding eachother.

ohhhhh no. I think the communication line is quite clear. so the MELVINS ended their set with a BB song, good enough for me.
assuming we are talking about the same song.
I'm just thankful you've been decent enough to share with us your experience and memories of the show. have a nice day khordy.

I got feelings, you know. and I'm the sensitive sort. you expect me to take all this on my shoulders going into a holiday weekend? maybe you don't realize the vulnerability I feel missing that "n". I'm feel almost naked and exposed. and YOU gotta go and kick me while I'm down. wait till the other glen(n)'s hear about this. we might collectively decide to yank that extra "n" of your's and knock you down a rank. I think an apology is in order.

When I saw them in Aarhus in Denmark in '95 they played "Sacrifice" and "Nasty Dogs" as encores. The day aften in Copenhagen they didn't play any encores. Shame.
Anyway, I'm going to see Melvins tonight in Copenhagen, and Thrones tomorrow in Aarhus. Simply thrilled, honey.

Ah, there we go :P Well people here said it was Another Fourht Of July ruined. Ill check it out and get back to you peeps on it
I kind of got the impression when Jared left the stage that he was just singing some standard American holiday/patriotic song that he was making fun of, I am not sure it was a Melvins or a BB song. The lyrics went something like "if we all stick together, if all keep close, everything will be fine, bla bla" sounded like something Andy Jackson would have written :D

i'm sorry glen, i don't know what came over me. i would humbly request to be stripped of my karma level of 3, back to one gold star, and face further humiliation and beration from the entire melvins.net community.
i would go fishing with you, providing you didn't live in michigan. lots of cancerous carpoides-cyrpinus in michigan.

The answer to your question is.
I don't remember.
EDIT: Just KIDDING. No, I guess it wasn't that song. it was much more Queenish and not as dark. More proud, nostalgic in a way. Triumphant. Like "Good day chaps! BAttle's over and we won!"
good stuff.
but you can see where someone might think this was the song you were refering to tough, no?
hear that military drum beat?
I do, I even hear how the singing could be compared, but a las something something!
