I made a muhspace page for all the songs that have been contributed to the Melvins Tribute, by the members of this board.
I'm awaiting permission from more people to post their songs, so it's pretty small right now.
Here's the link to it: http://www.myspace.com/melvinsbbstribute
If you want to be added as a friend, you know what to do. I want to keep it among us right now. It's just a way to hear everyones songs without having to download them. Unless you all think otherwise. Should I let it be public? I was just thinking for now, it's a good way to hear the songs that may be put on a cd. If not, then we have a nice forum for our covers.
It's cheap and easy right now, but I'll work on it more over the weekend, as I get more songs and permission from people.
If you have a song, get me a download for it, and a "band" name you want associated with it. Otherwise, I'll just use your bbs handle.
Hanzy is the man-zy
What I need to do now is figure out how to put up more than the four songs. I know there is a way on a personal muhspace, but as far as bands, not so sure. I either get something for more than 4 songs, or I change them out every few days.
Oh, and since my speakers don't work; Are the songs playing?

Yes. Yes they are.
Pretty cool. Good job to those who contributed songs.
Upload my cover of History of Bad Men if you want. I thought for the past 6 months or so myspace let bands upload six songs.
There is a way to upload songs and create a playlist on your myspace. It's been awhile since I've done it so I can't remember how to do it.
I really like the contributions. Didn't hear Night Goat and Toy until now, pretty good, all of you.
I remember seas of luck should have recorded A History of Drunks with that singer they had :D
" Band Members: Fourteen chipmunks, a bulldyke, and a taco salad. "

I think only six have been turned in so far. If someone has something else, send it to me.

I think I'm going to take the privacy off of it. I don't see any reason for it, and I'm not sure why I made it that way.
Very cool Idlehanz ... just in the process of digesting it as I write this ... great idea, until or in lue of an actual cd. A nice tribute to all our fave from the community. A a good way to keep it continuous & growing ... So far really diggin' these versions too ... so far, I like what I'm hearin' ... not carbon copies ... cool as hell!
You can, just bypass the dinky my space player w/ your own player. I donno know if it works on a band page thou ... but on a personal page yeah ... I had over an hour of music on my page ... if ya know how to do some simple html (I'm clueless w/ computers an' I figured it just fine). Heh, well in Melvins tradition I guess that would be too obvious.
well you could do like this guy did and create a few profiles, and just use the media player from the other http://www.myspace.com/noiseplayer8
just make another tribute page, don't make it public and just use it to host another player. and also don't make the tracks start automatically.

19 and steadily climbing.
I'm changing around the background a lot. Trying to find something that fits nice. Or maybe I'll just keep changing things around. I have some ideas, but I need to reinstall my photoshop.
I'll get Dead Wipe in there soon Mop. Not forgetting ya. Do you have a name and pic you want associated with it?
Would anyone here be able to add vocals to my mix of Goose Freight Train?

Hey Smellis,
Have you ever heard of the Stinkor Brothers? They used to walk around
Montesano up until about a year ago! It was a dude and his physically-challenged
wife and he used to push her in the wheelchair unless he was pissed off and then he
would walk about ten yards in front of her...

Watchman--Used to sit on his suitcase and shave his feet. And always checked his watch. wWord was he was waiting for his brother to come back from Vietnam. I doubt that though.
I USED TO SEE THE WATCHMAN EVERY DAY...I WORKED AT A LITTLE CARWASH ACROSS FROM THE MORK HOTEL DOWN IN ABERDEEN, (I THINK THE CARWASH IS A FRUIT STAND NOW), BUT THAT DUDE WAS CRAZY, I GAVE HIM A COUPLE CIGARETTES AND A BEER ONCE. I WENT TO ABERDEEN LIKE 2 MONTHS AGO AND SEEN HIM AT WALMART....IT WAS REALLY FUNNY, HE WAS STILL WEARIN THAT SAME BLUE AND GRAY COAT.
yes!! Mork Hotel
I've been getting a few requests from other people that aren't on the board to submit songs. While I wanted to keep this for us, so we could hear each other, do you think I should post some other stuff? It would be a few weeks down the road, but I'm just curious as to what others think. I don't think it's a bad idea, I'd just like to showcase the members stuff first.

tell the other non-bbs contributors to register here and then they can submit.
or, like i mentioned, make another profile and just "html code" the other player from the "other, non public" profile underneath the origional one. have you considered this?

in my opinion it should be some thing serious. something plain something really close to something Mackie would do. the counterfeit one i close but not quite right.
Ya, I need to work a bit more on the typography.
Here's something i put together. It's just a concept. I wouldn't consider this solid, but i guess this is the direction I would envision for the cover. I was gonna make a back side too, but thought I'd start off slow.

Thansk MAR,
i was just thinking looking at my pic, if an octopus design worked, you could have a tentacle for each band/artist that contributed even if it was like 15. it would melvins like to have a 15 tentacled octi.
nice work Dan!~ That one gets my vote.

Thank You!
I also think that anything sea related would fit very well (as it did on several t shirt designs on the last tour). maybe the octopus/jellyfish would make a good front/back cover if the colors would match a little more...
This may not be perfect for a cover but I think it fits the style

Ok, so I've done a little reworking as far as the songs go.
Everything that was on the 2nd page is now on the main page. Everything that was on the main page is now on the second page, except for two songs.
Grim's little reaper and Bionic's cover was added to the main page.
Grim, if there is a band name to be associated with the tune, let me know.
If anybody see's a problem or I need to correct something, let me know.
well good news from the Armofinfant camp, we've just recorded the drums our contribution. I'll leave it a surprise only Idle knows which we're doing. I'm not trying to act like you guys are waiting in suspense or anything but i know i get excited when other people finish theirs.

something new for the tribute.
i for one would like to know more about the artist whom recorded the contributions, as far as why they chose it, how they recorded it, who played what etc...nerdy shit.
so here;s what were gonna do. if you contributed to the comp and can take the time to type a quick or long bio about your song maybe PM it to Idle or send it to the myspace profile. not page 2 but the original.
like Jaron's version of Oven for example, do Jaron play everything or does he have a band ? shit like that.
Idle will then at it as a blog or create one continuous blog containing all entries. think of it as a dvd extra or even just as a liner note.
New song added!

Great. No rush, im not as desperate as i seem.
Also those tracks were cool - i havent listened to all of them yet but really enjoyed the ones off Stoner Witch.
Your in.
That version of Eye Flys sounds great MAR.

I loved how you stripped the song of its heaviness while still retaining its eery quality. Great job!
any vocalist that want to be involved with this thread should let it be known.
im sure you would only need a good not ok but good microphone.
and a program to record it and be able to save as wave files.
and also be ready to send a sample of the direction your voice takes.
i might be looking for one right now.

I is vocalist. I have all the necessary eqvipment. I did the vox on Queen and Goose Freight Train.
What track did you have in mind?
MAR: Nice work on Eye Flys, mang. I like the downbeat approach to that song. Truly orginal.
I believe I have most, if not all, the none-half-arsed covers by board members from over the years stashed away.
Should be able to finally make a decent tribute either today or later this week...
