"If you're a Nirvana fan, this probably occurred to you in, oh 1991 or so, but I'm very very slow so it just occurred to me.

You know how their first album sounds so much like the Melvins, and how he's even thanked on the first Melvins album (from 1986) and was known as this kid who followed the Melvins around and worshipped them?

Do you think this is the reason they chose to cover The Shocking Blue's "Love Buzz"? So Kurt could sing "Can you feel my love, Buzz?"

Just a thought.

A thought I should have had a couple decades back sure, but a thought nonetheless."

It's a bizarre fact that this song can often be heard in Buzz's home.

I doubt it, but I bet it did run through Kurts head.  If you've ever heard the original, it's pretty poppy, just the kind of music Kurt often listed as influential.

Kurt gets a thank you on Gluey?

The power of punctuation. They should have done a Roxy Music cover.

Really? That's a fucking awesome achievement.

I just scanned Heavier Than Heaven a bit, to see if I could find anything about the origin of the name 'King Buzzo' (see the thread 'King Buzzo Etymology?') and somewhere it said that Kurt Cobain, as a cling-on, did not have a nickname given to him by Buzzo, which meant he had some sort of status or something. It's hard to tell what's true and what not in that book. But anyway, I guess the writer was wrong, and that Kurty had a nickname after all.

I was once a big nirvana fan (still am but less knowledgeable) and I recall reading some where that Krist was the original advocate for covering the song and that Kurt thought it was too dopey at first.  But that's a 6 year memory with no source to back it up.

That might be possible, but Kurt was like a dictator in Nirvana who didn't care if someone else had an idea for a song.
