the frist album I heard by Melvins was Ozma with GPT as bonus tracks. I remember being completely floored by the awe inspiring slowness and heaviness. From the opening notes of Vile through the end to Candy-O, my jaw was hanging open the entire time. And after hearing Eye Flys and the rest of GPT, it was all over, I was now a Melvins disciple.

This is a great picture; the vertical slits on the poppy pods are cut, they leak sap, and the sap is collected on that spoon.  Then the sap gets refined into various things..

I always really liked Ozma. Got my first copy when I was about 15 or so, on cassette, no GPT on it. I was very much into it then, and still count it in my top 5 Melvins albums. Yes, the production is flat. But I'm gonna try running it through my studio recording gears with eq's and a sonic maximizer and see what kind of sound I can muster from it. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Should beef it up quite a bit without making it muddy... we'll see...

okay, without MAJOR tweaking, this may not be able to be saved. Nonetheless, one of my top 5. That high end is killing me though.

On the making love demos to various bootleg recordings you here longer versions of songs like ever since my accident, my small % shows most, revulsion.  Why did Buzz cut the songs shorter for the Ozma recording?  Was he trying to make it more "punk" by having shorter songs?  I don't know?
Any thoughts?
