This is the FIRST time.......

......this is the first time EVER................

........................THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER that I've been to a venue that has a lighthouse associated with it...

.....and this is the FIRST TIME EVER I've been to a venue with a Huey across the road......

The Underground in Cologne is a small squat-type-looking venue and was completely sold out last night. Indeed, it was so full, it was impossible for everyone there to fit in properly. Luckily I was at the front, a yard from the drum kits, and in danger of having both legs amputated at the knees by the stage if there was ever any attempt by the people behind me to go mental. Luckily again, it was too full and compact to go too mental.

Big Business played their slowest, heaviest, best version of Lonely Lyle I've ever seen. It was incredible.

Jared managed to get into the crowd and high-five everyone after their set, although I have no idea how he managed to do that, we were so tightly wedged in! I guess the sweat acted as lubricant.

Melvins are best at this distance, imo. Their set seemed a bit shorter than in the past, maybe they skipped Bride of Crankenstein? What they lost in length, they more than made up for in girth, though. It was hot as fuck in there!

The poster for tonight was the best poster I've seen in ages, too.

Best venue; best poster; best Huey; best bands; best hotel 10 minutes away. Anyone going to this venue could do a lot worse than the Regina. It's in the same street, clean, warm and quiet enough for you to become friends with tinnitus for the night. RECOMMENDED.

Shame it was raining all morning this morning, I'd loved to have gone on an expedition. Drank coffee and read books until my plane arrived, though...
