FUCK YES.

Everything people on this board have been saying is true. Last night's Hoboken show was amazing. Maxwell's must hold anywhere from 150 -250 people, maximum, and this show had been sold out for a number of weeks. It was like seeing these fuckers in my living room, the place was so small. The only thing was that the stage was not that elevated, so I couldn't get a good look at Cody or Dale until the end of the show when the moshing began & I was able to move up closer.

Jared looks & acts like a junior Buzzo in training. His bass playing with the Melvins was the most versatile I had heard out of him, and it was truly amazing to see Big Business morph into the Melvins right before my eyes. BB's new songs sound tight as hell, and Cody is just so damn fun to watch play them drums.

The sound quality was extremely good. Buzzo seemed to be more of a bandleader than a guitar player. Or at least he seemed to be letting the rhythem section take over for this tour. Ugh. So tired. I'll try to write more later. And of course, i have tonight's concert to report on soon too  :)

To qoute one of the friends I went with "that might have been the greatest concert I've ever seen."

It ruled.

Brrooklyn show: Porn shoulda played a fucking song. Joe Lally was boring. I  am not cultured enough to understand Ghostigital. Big Business sounded really good in a big venue. The Melvins played songs that I liked. Pierogies and kielbasa totally made the night for me.

I'll try to write a worse review for Philly.

woah, so this is the first time I have seen the Melvins on two consecutive nights. Lots of comparing and contrasting going on. The sound at Maxwell's was much better. Warsaw's PA system kinda blows, but it isn't the worst I have heard by a long shot. Warsaw's security was also very much against anyone moshing, which kind of put a damper on the evening. Or at least I couldn't let loose like I wanted to. The setlist was virtually identical for both shows, except BB played an extra song with Dale (which was very nice) in Brooklyn. The band seemed more into it in Hoboken, but I could see much better in Brooklyn.

Wow, seeing Dale & Cody furiously jam was truly inspiring. I feel in a way like I spoiled the Brooklyn show for myself because I saw the previous night's show & pretty much know what was going to happen.

Joe Lally played both nights & was really good. Porn played in Brooklyn. I don't think they played in Hoboken, or maybe they did but before I go there. I enjoyed Porn's set, but was not motivated to buy a CD.

Fuck, my brain is scrambled from two very late nights. I'll write more later.

-the pierogies and kielbasa.

oh. a notable part was during a pause in the dual drumming- some guy was like: WHAT??? that was pretty funny.

One other thing - Vinney had mentioned this previously & it really stuck in my head: Buzz is one creepy looking dude. I want to confirm that yes, that indeed is the case, but lately Dale has been looking even creepier than Buzz. Definitely not "rock star" material - more like David Lynch material!

One more thing - about those Mumus: what tour did they start doing this? When I saw them this time, the mumus reminded me specifically of Sunn O)))'s grim robes, but I am almost sure the Melvins did their schtick first.

new year's eve 2000, as far as i know.

and yea, dale is getting up there in the creepiness factor.  i guess i notice it with buzz more because he's standing right there looking at us.
sometimes these orgasmic grins creep across his face, sometimes he snarls, sometimes his eyes roll back.  he's just so affected and full of unsettling character

I did happen to run into Moss when he handed me my vip bracelet and all access pass. He seemed well. Thanks for asking.

I got to Philly late and missed Porn, but TIM MOSS said it was more of the same shit they did last night and he was bummed that I missed it because it was intended to annoy me.

I heard a couple Joe Lally songs again and I was still bored, but had the opportunity to sit with him and JARED in the dressing room lounge after the show and hearing him talk about it kind of gave me a better understanding which allowed me to appreciate it a bit more.

Ghostigital left the tour in NYC so they weren't there.

Big Business sounded good again. Me and COADY WILLIS reminisced about a really weird party we ended up at, at the dude's from Marcy Playgrounds house, like 10 years ago.

The Melvins played everything I could hope to hear. Me and DALE CROVER talked about having kids.

I just namedropped the fuck out of this post. Go to town, tools.

May I interpret this as a PORN show dedicated to you?
