I think the Big Melvins albums got progressively worse. I was quite disappointed by TBSM
I was too. Its certainly wasnt a bad album but an absolute killer record it wasnt. Gotta disagree with the progressively worse trend tho. Senile and Nude are equally great in my mind.

same here.
everything before ASA is killer melvins stuff. i like ASA quite a lot...
NWB and TBSM are ok albums, but a bit disappointing in my opinion...

ManWithNoName

The Bride Screamed Murder is my favorite of the Big Melvins. NWB is also great. I think that NWB will be looked at fondly in a few years and all the twats who claim it sucks will all be saying how they totally loved it from the moment of its release because they're hip like that.

rhett E rock

i definitely think the Melvins venture away from the norm more often as a 3-piece.  don't get me wrong i like them with Big Business...i think they're songs are more accessible (for lack of a better word) with the new line-up.  not that there's anything wrong with that.  i just miss the weirdness.  the last two albums especially have this classic rock vibe...

heldatgunpoint

I only got to see the 3 piece Melvins once but I thought they got so much better live with BB. Just seemed to breath life in them and they are better everytime time I see them. Love the blend of vocals too.
Recording wise, I think it could be better. There's something about the sound of those albums that im starting to get bored with, kind of thin and sometimes harsh with not much attention the double drumming.

Metalhead Cow

The Bride Screamed Murder is my favorite album with Jared and Coady and I think it's one of the Melvins' best albums. A Senile Animal is also amazing, and Nude With Boots, while not one of my favorite Melvins releases is still fantastic. The two times I've seen the Melvins live were with the Big Business lineup and they were just fantastic. I think Jared and Coady are great additions to the band and I hope this lineup does not end soon.

I think Buzz purposely makes his guitar sound weedy as a sort of stroppy reaction to the whole Sludge Metal thing. Also, I don't think people realise how weird a song like Billy Fish is whilst still sounding so normal at the same time. This is advanced level stuff.
