First Melvins show, and wow, what a show.  I stood next to the speakers on the right side for most of it, so the sound of my keyboard sounds like it's coming from inside a wet paper sack.  As such, I can't remember the exact setlist, because in a deliberate attempt to remove the world of people who can remember such things, the band played an ungodly amount of wonderful beautiful feedback.  I remember almost all of them, but I may have goofed the order.  Brain said he was going to this show, and maybe one of you guys did.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Let it all be
Tipping the Lion
(something here? could be that beatles cover, but I never listened to the beatles)
Queen
Bar X The Rocking M
The Bloated Pope
The Fool, the Meddling Idiot
Pigs of the Roman Empire
Zzzz Best
The Bloat
Night Goat
Der Lovely Butterflies
Black Stooges

The place was about twice the size of a local bar here, to my amazement.    The Trio was a lot better live than the mp3s I heard.  Their style is nothing short of brilliant, and I found myself trying to keep up with the dynamics the whole time, tapping my fingers and such.  Trevor Dunn looks a lot younger than he really is.

Anyways, on to the Melvins!  See any recent show review for most of the highlights.  Kevin had some flashing klaxon thing and Dale was shining a spotlight around later in the show before Night Goat.

The band did a great job making Pigs sound as epic live with their setup as on the album, thanks to the aforementioned feedback.  It was really amusing the watch them manipulate the sound, toying with knobs, moving around.

Buzz had some various Labor Day weekend comments before Black Stooges, but nothing I can remember all that much.

Someone else was talking about swag they had there--indeed.  The Happy Halloween Bitch shirt was there, as was the dog shitting one, and they had all manner of show posters (I got that night's one).

Midnight Lamp

The show on the 4th was the same set list I think. The Beatles song was "I wanna hold your hand"

Buzz had some Labor Day weekend comments too.

He said "I'm suprised you all are in town on a holiday weekend." And everyone just yelled. Then he asked, "What time is it?" The Audeience yelled. He repeated, "No really, what time is it? Kevin needs to take his medicene."

Yeah, I remember now that Buzz said something like "What a fitting end to a Labor Day weekend in Des Moines, or as we like to call it Dez Moinez.  Tomorrow night we play in Minneapolis, and we want to see each and every one of you there."

Someone said something about work in the crowd, and Buzz said something about everyone in California being unemployed.  Then yadda yadda yadda, he has the terminator for the governor.

Buzz sounded like Jon Lovitz for some reason, it was weird.

no, I didn't, and it wouldn't sound very good if I did.  I couldn't hear Buzz that well most of the time.
