Well there seems to be 2 posts for this event but here we go. I showed up with my buddy who had the flu, and promptly left just before the doors opened only to spend the rest of the night in the car puking and shivering, poor bastard. Met idlehanz and two other guys from Montesano. Went into the show and staked a claim stage left right where I knew Buzz and Dale (and Tim) would be. Watched Akimbo, Seattle band, I like them they kicked ass. PORN came out and kicked ass as usual. Wish I knew what that damn pressure pedal thing is that Moss uses. They tried really hard to piss people off with feedback etc., but I loved it. The hangers on hated it. Kurt Schlagel in a diaper over his schlong and asscrack ruled. MELVINS and entourage came out and toasted the "early" new year with Hot Sauce Butch Darlene (Jared) Santa, Fat Elvis, Buzz, and a drum tech gorilla. BB was next and was unbelievable. Dale is really good at guitar, he's come a long way since the days of his solo EP for sure. Then Buzzo came out and they did that hellacious freaking drum marching thing that just kicks unbelievable ass. Buzz looked possessed as he jammed along. Then they broke into their set and they played with a ferocity that I have not seen since the 20th anniversary show in Olympia. I was so close to Buzz that if I could get any closer I would be crawling up his mumu. The sound was massive, two Marshall 4X12 cabs with a JCM 900 head. He did not have the Rat, but had a Boss overdrive distortion, and a Boss delay I think. No rack stuff, they rented all their gear for this 2 night New Year's tour. Buzz's tone is just incredible, how does he do it?? The Bit was my favorite tune, holy crap. After Lovely Butterflies Dale and Coady hugged and back slapped about the end of the tour, they looked so happy and it ended on such a cool high note. They fought over a drum stick that Coady was going to throw to the crowd, and it fell to the floor. A stage hand threw it out after they left the stage and I jumped to catch it and it deflected off my finger SHIT!! The crowds for both New Year's shows were a lot different than the regular tour. More moshers and people who were not hard core MELVINS fans but people who just wanted to get drunk and be dicks. Oh well that is all, probably the best MELVINS show ever, but then again, I aways say that. Happy 2007!!!
