So.... yeah, just got home, ears ringing. here's some tidbits from the show.

I decided to piss out the hangover and after a few beers and 4am it came out like this. Recording came from my PDA/phone in mono, in my pocket. Applied a few restorations and clip limiters, an eq.  Believe me you don't want to hear the source audio if you think this is a narrow recording. not much to listen to, but i can relay a happy new years from the musical collective named the melvins. fantastic show, basically one opening band and the rest were melvii/business in multiple incarnations.

Tim Moss on guitar, their tour manager, and a guy called Kurt on bass, he's the Melvins sound guy.

It was so worth sleeping in a van and getting a parking ticket!

I arrived in Seattle around 4pm and proceeded to wander after having some Maker's in privacy.  It was interesting but a tad monotonous, I had more fun looking at the manhole cover designs than window shopping.  Anyway around 6pm I had dinner at the chinese resturant next to the Showbox and overheard the soundcheck, Jared spent twenty minutes testing vocals to which a couple behind me commented that "It must be a karaoke bar."

So 8pm rolled around and they let everyone inside, I basically mingled through the crowd as best as I could and ran into a couple people from Olympia and bs'd until Akimbo came on, they were pretty damn good.  Once Porn came on I went outside for a hotdog and came in for the last half hour of their show which was better than I thought it would be.  Hopefully I can catch Porn play next time they're through the area.  Once their set was done I got stage center about third "row" out where I made small talk with other drunken fans until the Business came on.

There's not much I can say except this was one of the best performances I've seen in a long time, I enjoyed Big Business and the Melvin's earlier songs because I've heard ASA alot and suppose I'm a tad overexposed.  The only bummer to the show was this group of five skinhead guys in black shirts who were constantly trying to push everyone out of their way (Throwing some guys onto the mosh floor too...) and one who was wearing a white/grey camo jacket kept trying to out jockey me for my spot.  Let's just say his shoe accidently got caught under my foot and was removed when he tried to pull away, afterwhich he which he left me alone until just before The Bit where I got a sick feeling and went and drank water until the end of the show.

Definately the best New Years so far in my life!  :D

Just got back to Vancouver from the Seattle show.  Whatta night.  Hot Sauce came out first again, introduced by Dale.  Played the usual We Will Rock You with much crowd participation.  Akimbo came out and did a decent set.  I'm not a huge fan, but they were ok.  Hot Sauce came up again and did a James Brown medley with the crowd doing the bbom boom clap We Will Rock You beat.  Next every band member came out and did a New Years Eve countdown even though it was about quarter to 11 or so.  Porn came out, same set as Portland, except Kurt, the bass player dressed in a half diaper jockstrap thing with half his ass hanging out.  Long break, then about 5 after midnite, everyone came out again and did another New Years Eve countdown.  BB up next and they sounded brutal, more so than in Portland.  The sound was better in Seattle than the night before, for all bands.  Dale came out and played guitar for a few songs, ripping it up just like the night before.  BB played their set and Buzz joined for the last song and straight into the Melvins set.  Completely fukking brutal sound.  Bass pounding thumping right into your eyes and chest.  Everything sounded great.  A few songs in, Dale asked for the lights to be turned up a bit, as I think he and Coady couldn't see their kits real well.  It was a good thing, as I had been filming and the lights were very low, making the video not to good looking.  I had to shoot most of the Porn set with the night vision on, making everything green and white.  Same set as Portland, playeing Night Goat again.  After the closer, Lovely Butterflies, they all came back out and counted down New Years again.  By this time it was about 1:45 am.  Pretty funny.  Dale sang Auld Lang ???  whatever that song is, every countdown.  I tried to film best I could, but standing for almost 5 hours in one spot was painful.  Hunched over holding a bulky camera.  Got knocked around a lot, just standing on a ramp.  Very worth the money and drive.  Great god damn show.

forgot to add....  No show posters for tonight!   :(  Merch guy Mr Raymond....not Dan, his brother, said the printers fucked up.  Which was totally shitty.  Best show I've seen from the Melvins and no poster to remember it by.  I hope they eventually get them and they go on sale on line.

Well, what I know how to do is transfer to dvd.  What I don't know how to do is put on youtube or torrent.  I'm learning this all still.  I'm definitly gonna work on both.

I have the room to hold the torrent, it's just making it that I don't know how to do.  I'll get on Dime later and look for answers.  I'd love to put a clip up of the show.  I have Roxio Media Creator and I could probably make an mpeg or something, but I'm betting it will take forever.  I'll look into it and try to do something this week.
