Anyone who doesn't think Negative Approach is a good band and would be bummed they were playing on a bill with someone you're going to see anyway is a fucking idiot.

maybe they're worried about losing time off the set they want to see.
or maybe they're worried about not seeing morning star rising as a sacrifice to fit NA on the bill.

Sure, sure, but how did Greg Ginn put it again? "Never give the audience what they want, give them what they need". I'd pay serious attention to any band that were personally picked by the Melvins to open for them.

Overall N/A fans look adorable. Fist up high and scream along with the singer to show how much they can relate to all the anger and frustration. I'm sure  agood bunch of them are sXE, screaming along with a former heroin junkie, oh what a wonderful world we live in.

Aren't you from Michigan, and you've never heard NA?  Shameful.  John Brannon has one of the most fierce, tortured voices in hardcore.  Pure hate.  In the early 80's when everyone was worshipping DC SxE, Negative Approach were unrepentant drug using fuck-ups spewing blasted vitriol.   Brannon's post NA band Laughing Hyenas were great too, slowed down and bluesy hate-filled dirges.  His current band Easy Action is OK, at least they still do NA and LH songs.  Notice a trend?  It's hate.

I had heard of them, just never heard them.  although I am familiar with laughing hyenas.

sounds like something like agnostic front or something to that affect, no?

so do you think melvins actually hand selected these guys to open a show or do you think it was one of those things that just kinda fell into place?

Personally I don't think the melvins had anything to do with NA being on the bill.  If I had to speculate, I'd say the melvins would have pulled out of the Pomona show whether or not Buzz got sick, because of money problems the promoters were having.. among other things.

Music was OK, but I gotsta respect them just for being so dodgey and mostly dead.   I love me some Poison Idea though.
