i saw the H.A.T. (lite) tour at Amoeba in LA when it was released..
They had these tiny amps and played real quiet.

mindblowing.

Fucking fantastic, great stuff mate.

Mount Ambulance

Melvins - Little Judas Chongo

Melvins - Foaming

This show has a full HAT performance. Could only find a couple on youtube ... though the whole thing is out there on the web.

Great vid of a great show ... the outro of Foaming is full on sick!

Easily one of my favorite tours I've seen.

Hot Pants

wow that show at Cow Haus is amazing.

yeah HAT is pretty much perfect. its a really great album.

its kind of hard to believe those quote from Buzz on how it was one of their most disliked albums by fans and the story about all of the copies that were returned. what's up with that?
the place where i sleep is cold and abandoned
you can't even fathom a hole being dug so deep

Yeah something doesn't sound right about that to me either. Im not saying it didn't happen of course just that it's really odd. HAT is great!

Well it always takes me a little while to get into a new Melvins album..... I would never return one tho! I'd probably sell it on Ebay for a 1000% mark-up

Hortense

Hostile Ambient Takeover is my favorite recording by the Melvins.

It came out as the whole record industry was really starting to tank.. No one was really buying records any more

I think the returns were from unsold copies at the stores. Plus didn't some retail stores go out of business back in '02?
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

Oh ya that makes more sense :P And ya, especially up here in Saskatchewan... We lost a shit load of music stores. We only have 2 record stores and an HMV now; which only carries DVDs/Blu-rays, and a very sparse selection of music. Only option for Melvins is online :(

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a copy of this Cow Haus show?

I've played that video about 3-4 times already, it's just too good.

HAT era was a special part of the melvins time-line. I think it may have been their peak for their live show. I saw them play almost all of HAT before it was released on NYE in San Francisco, including Fool and that was a great show, then I saw the the full HAT set in vegas in a tiny little club which was on the second floor of an old building, I literally thought the floor was going to cave in from the "heaviness" they were bringing.
I also remember buzz being ultra dead serious at shows and very elusive, avoiding contact with many fans. I remember seeing him run backstage alot of times from fans, lol.

HAT tour also featured the 2 min silent break/pause were they just stood there on stage while people yelled for songs.

It seems like as soon as they signed with ipecac and they put out the trilogy they really had a new energy to them and they def became more popular at that time.

And yes, Anti-Vermin seed live was mindblowing. I feel like they will never play that again. Maybe with Trevor?? Melvins Lite doing AntiVermon and The Fool anyone??
