I am the Sun

I think the bigbiz lineup has a few more albums left in 'em and I don't think the full potential has been realized yet. If anyone saw the Porn noise sets on this last tour with Dale and Coady drumming you'd know what I'm talking about. These guys have a lot more tricks up their sleeve. Not to mention that we've got 3 (4?) accomplished vocalist on in this new line up. Also there's a ton of people they can incorporate into their studio sound still. I mean, Adam Jones, Trevor Dunn, David Scott Stone, Lustmord, and Jello Biafra are all still in the picture, not to mention Dale's been doing bass and Mike Dillard is back on drums for Melvins 1983. They've got all kinds of people and talents they can utilize. Personally, I think the new albums are great, but they are going to have to try to mix it up with the lineup to make sure it doesn't start sounding too samey. Considering that the band we're talking about is the melvins, I'm sure the next one will sound different.

I think we'd have ourselves a pretty kickass album if the Melvins did some things like -

Use more Deaf Nephews production (in the vein of the Enchanted Thought Fist remix on Sieg Howdy!)
Utilized the multiple drummer line up in a way that wasn't mostly in-unison playing
bring in more electronics via David Scott Stone and Lustmord. Hell, if they did something interesting with it I'd even argue for making electronics part of the live show
Experiment and be more adventurous with their multiple vocal lineup
Get Dillard and Dunn in the studio, just for kicks.

I've read interviews with Buzzo where he implies that Big Business will be around for a while. I enjoy the Big Biz material quite a bit, but ive just had enough. I dont want to say i dislike this lineup - their albums are fucking stellar - but the Melvins have done work i like a lot more and that i go back to listen to a lot more than Nude With Boots or (A) Senile Animal.  Hopefully their next release will prove me wrong. I know its not just Big Business that's making me sick of this lineup, becuase i'm actually anticipating their newest release more than the next Melvins release. But, like i said.. I want to be proved wrong and would love to see something completely different. I'm sure they will deliver especially since BB has been massively improving.

David Yow. Think about how awesome it would be if they did a record with Yow doing vocals on early melvins songs. Imagine what Eye Flys would sound like.

They've collabed with Big biz, j-lo, lustmord and how many people on Crybaby, why not just do a bunch of one-off collabs?

That would be pretty cool. Maybe they could do a few collaborations in the style of a 3 way split. 3 different lineups with 3 songs per lineup.

I listen to the Crybaby as often as I listen to Prick.  Do people actually sit down and listen to it?  No point in repeating the past, I am more than happy with the current line-up and albums.

Why's that? I feel that most of what was said reguarded what Buzzo's next decision would be, and there was nothing that scandalous. Its not like anybody was saying the Melvins should collaborate with Timbaland for their next album.

I'm not saying release a new crybaby every month, I'm saying release new collabs.

And damn, I love the Crybaby, its miles beyond Prick.

I thought the Crybaby was awesome, and I think some of the collaborations on that disc definitely should be expanded to whole albums.

I just hope they stay healthy enough to keep making music and touring. Buzz and Dale both look a couple years out of Heart attack city.
