Finally got back home...  fuck that was a horrible flight - I was still drunk from last night.

I'll let The Fool, MOP (where's my beer mofo? :)) and the rest to write about the shows (how was the first one btw?) and will upload some photos with a few words later tonight. I'm going to bed.

Ok I can't really fall asleep so I wrote a few random facts about last night:

1. It was fucking hot in Melbourne yesterday - FACT!

A top of 39c and it was still 35c when I landed at 18:00. Buzz, Dale and Trevor looked like they were struggling with the heat and you can't blame them. At the end of the show my shirt was so wet I could have used it to break the Australian drought. Check out in my pics later how Dale is trying not to touch me...  :)

2. There are more Melvins fans in Melbourne than in Sydney

Was this a cool review?    FACT!

The poster prices are a surprise; I guess if they can sell them for that, why not..

thanks MJ!

Ok here are some pics:

1. After Dinner we went record shopping but didn't buy anything...

2. It's never too late to act like an idiot!

3. The view from the queue. Are we there yet???

4. Trying to survive the heat before the show even started

5. Moss "looking for Mr. Trevor Dunn"...  too bad he was standing next to him 2 secs earlier  :)

6. Mr. Dale Crover takes his place while the two dudes in front of me warm up for a night of spectacular headbanging!

7. I was pretty close to Dale again last night

8. Buzz taking his place on the stage

9. Dale was shredding as usual

10. No Comment

11. Buzz playing Spread Eagle Beagle. He only lasted about 2 minutes...  now we've got something in common!

12. Another bizzare photo from my camera. Trevor's Hologram playing Spread Eagle Beagle

13. Dale helping Buzz sing Okie from Muskogee

14. Looking back from about the 5th row on the left. There is no encore suckers! Go home!

15. Two handsome fellas... notice how Dale is trying to avoid touching me...  I was sweating like a pig

All i can really say about last night's gig is that it was probally one of the best i've ever been to. I'm not just saying that because it was the Melvins either. The whole night was really damn good.

Actually, i can probally say some stuff.

I got to the ding dong around 8ish, line was huge. We decided to go and have a beer somewhere else first. Paid $5 for a really crap beer. Anyway, we walked back to the venue, line was still huge. Waited for a long time before we finally made it in, the whole time i was freaking out out that my tickets might have fucked up and they weren't going to let us in. So yeah, basically i then spent the entire Melvins set standing about 1 metre away from Buzz. The best spot i've ever had at any show.

Sorry MJ i didn't get to buy you that beer but from seeing your photos i think i actually i saw you at the gig. I unfortunately didn't get to meet anyone from here which was probally the only downer of the night, besides the crap $5 beer.

Sorry if this post is nonsense i'm a bit delirious from the heat and my lack of sleep over the last few days.

Maybe i'll be able to add more later. Oh, and we got some really good photos that i'll put up once my friend sends them to me.

The reason the posters were so expensive, is because the guy who made them (angryblue) only made 60 copies of the white version, and 55 of the cream. $50 AUD is not expensive, considering they will go for around $30 - $60 USD on his site from today, I don't think Melvins would of made much money at all from them.

PS. Great show, my forth melvins gig and probably the best.

Fuck- I saw you guys all night MJ! We just kinda looked at each other oddly each time we passed. ...I was right there when you were getting your photo taken with Dale!
I truly am The Fool!!!

I'm the skinny geeky looking guy that was wearing the yellow 'Dreamers' (Zorn project w/TD on bass) t-shirt which seemed to attract all kinds of attention from people. Wish I wasn't such a shy prick and I had a chat to you guys, as well as Trevor, Dale and Buzz.

Even half pissed I couldn't summon the courage to harass Dale or Trevor the many times I had the opportunity to- inc. when they were walking down the lane between shows.  I didn't want to interrupt the conversations they were having with people such as yourself, though I did shake Dale's hand and told him the Melvins and Fantomas shows were all fucking great eventually. I guess nice guys really do finish last!

I did yell out to alert Trevor, Dale and those talking to them that they were about to be mowed down by a cab in the lane between shows though, so I'm happy about that as that could have really put a downer on the night's events!

Both Melvins shows were sensational though at the early show the crowd was alot seemed alot more sedate and alot of people seemed bewildered by alot of things- esp. Okie from Muskogee which Buzz did alone after Spread Eagle Beagle.

That's hilarious about those 'headbangers' too- I'm sure at least one of those guys you're referring to was my best friend, and the other could well have been another friend that came with us to both shows.
...That has to be the back of my best buddy's head in photo 7 if that's one of the guys you are talking about!!!

Got the Melvins poster from Moss before the early show from near the dj, then scrambled for the Fantomas one that Moss told me there was only 4 or 5 of ) when after the second show when I saw they were selling htme all from the stage.
Got the last Fantomas poster, though my buddy bought one for me- then sold it to a girl that was looking at me like I was the devil for having one, so all worked out cool- apart from Fuller from BD who was really pissed we didn't think to get him one of the Melvins posters.
Worth every cent of the $50ea to me!
I guess I didn't spend $100's travelling interstate though, or even much on drinks since I rarely drink.
5 bourbon and coke's during the whole night and I was wasted!
No smoke for me lately, and being so fucking hot in there I had to drink something so I figured I'd have a few evil drinks.

Serj Tankian and his bassist walked down the lane past everybody, but nobody at all seemed to give a shit- except the guy in front of us in the line who pointed them out excitedly. I wouldn't know who they were if I fell over them as we left as soon as Fantomas finished their set at The Palace when they supported him/them/whatever it is.
...The number of people sporting top hats at that gig was nauseating!

Lucky they played yesterday as it's even hotter in Victoria today, and is supposed to be hotter and hotter until Sunday.
Think that's about al I have to say at this point, though I didn't get home until 4:30am since I had to drive over 100km's after dropping everyone off, so I'm not quite with it today.

(Hope this makes some sense- so tired I can't tell!)
take care,
The Fool

I think you are right about the setlist, but seeing them twice in a day, I'm not 100% sure what order they played things in apart from the first and last few.
