All i can really say about last night's gig is that it was probally one of the best i've ever been to. I'm not just saying that because it was the Melvins either. The whole night was really damn good.

Actually, i can probally say some stuff.

I got to the ding dong around 8ish, line was huge. We decided to go and have a beer somewhere else first. Paid $5 for a really crap beer. Anyway, we walked back to the venue, line was still huge. Waited for a long time before we finally made it in, the whole time i was freaking out out that my tickets might have fucked up and they weren't going to let us in. So yeah, basically i then spent the entire Melvins set standing about 1 metre away from Buzz. The best spot i've ever had at any show.

Sorry MJ i didn't get to buy you that beer but from seeing your photos i think i actually i saw you at the gig. I unfortunately didn't get to meet anyone from here which was probally the only downer of the night, besides the crap $5 beer.

Sorry if this post is nonsense i'm a bit delirious from the heat and my lack of sleep over the last few days.

Maybe i'll be able to add more later. Oh, and we got some really good photos that i'll put up once my friend sends them to me.

...Why didn't we organise to all meet up?!?

Early show I was sitting on the left corner right next to Trevor, who could have smacked me in the head with his bass a few times if I wasn't perched on a stool and was standing.

I was over the right near Buzz at the later show, so we all must have been within a few metres of each other without even knowing!

Mop- were you the guy I said was a bastard (was actually a harsher word than that as us Aussies are so foul mouthed- especially half drunk) after the show for being so close to Buzz that he almost stood on you? Just curious since you said you were also over the right side and so close to Buzz...

I now know I was right near MJ as I was about four or five back as well at the later show- depending if I could see over/around a really tall guy in front of me.

Can't wait to see more pics anyway!!!

The reason the posters were so expensive, is because the guy who made them (angryblue) only made 60 copies of the white version, and 55 of the cream.  I don't think Melvins would of made much money at all from them.

Posters don't cost that much to make, it's the art you're paying for.  The Melvins probably get half of the run, and they make 100 percent profit on what they sell.  The poster artist gets his money from selling the rest.

I think that 'bastard' was another guy but I didn't notice his shirt.
I still could have said something to you though if you were there with your woman though.
A guy with really long hair was standing beside me on my left and I asked him if my buddy was pissing him off standing where he was when we moved in and he said everything was cool, but again, didn't see what shirt he had on because I was next to him, or slightly behind during the show.
...Sound familiar at all?!?

I was the only one there with a yellow shirt on though I think, so it's probably easier for you to tell if you saw me at all.

Anyway, if they do happen to ever tour again, we'll have to be better organised!

Fuck- I saw you guys all night MJ! We just kinda looked at each other oddly each time we passed. ...

Mate, I think I was just being drunk...  :)   but yeah, I think I know who you are. I'm sure I'll recognize you if I see a photo, same with mop as we were standing very close to each other.  Good to hear you had a good night.

That's hilarious about those 'headbangers' too- I'm sure at least one of those guys you're referring to was my best friend, and the other could well have been another friend that came with us to both shows.
...That has to be the back of my best buddy's head in photo 7 if that's one of the guys you are talking about!!!

I spoke to the  guy with the long dark hair while going down the stairs. I apologized for constantly bumping into him, other people kept pushing me on him all the time.

The reason the posters were so expensive, is because the guy who made them (angryblue) only made 60 copies of the white version, and 55 of the cream. $50 AUD is not expensive, considering they will go for around $30 - $60 USD on his site from today, I don't think Melvins would of made much money at all from them.

www.angryblue.com

PS. Great show, my forth melvins gig and probably the best.

Fair enough. Personally I prefer to get a couple of CDs or a T-shirt for $50 but again each to their own. Just seemed a bit ironic that the poster cost more than the ticket. As I mentioned it looked like they sold all (or most of) the posters they had so maybe $50 is a fair price for most people.

The Fool

The posters definitely sold out.
I asked Cal at the Ding Dong if the posters were going to be available when I saw it on the boards here and she said there would be 40, so I guess AngryBlue has the rest for sale.

When we were leaving Dale was out the front with Trevor talking to the security guy while Dale had a cigarette and my friend went and shook his hand and told him how great he (we) thought they were, as well as how great the Fantomas show was- which Dale seemed to really appreciate.
Dale said, "Oh cool, you got one of the posters" as we left, so I'm sure the money from the posters was all theirs and I'm more than happy to help them raise funds in any way possible.
...It's the least I can do for all the enjoyment those guys have provided me with over the years

I had a hell of a time getting there. I thought it was meant to start at 8pm - isn't that what the website said? Anyway, I had to leave work early, race to pick my daughter up from childcare, take her home, feed her, then get her over to my folks' place to babysit. I got to Ding Dong about 8 and the previous show's crowd was still coming out. All the band walked by at various times but not that many people seemed to notice them.

Anyway, it was veeeeery hot, and hotter inside.

I found Umlaut extremely tedious myself...
Nowhere near Bungle or SC3 in my opinion- though I am The Fool!
No doubt Bar's talented, but they do nothing for me.
Even Patton couldn't get me interested in the song he sang with them, though that was probably the best song of their set.

It was not a good setting for them, that's for sure. And to start your set with "Are you guys ready to rock?" was lame (because they didn't).

I didn't know Bar was involved, so assumed they were just ripping of the style/sound. I still enjoyed them, though.
