Yea, he sang Black Bock.

I filmed as well.  Had a hard time with security and the camera, but I pulled it off.  I filmed from the balcony, right next to the soundboard.

I'll have pics and vid's up later.  And a more thorough review.

one of those was probably me (or both, actually, as i use two cameras).  i didn't see any other photo passes issued.

awesome show, really really fun.  Buzz was much more active on stage than the last couple of times i've seen 'em w/ Jared and Coady.

here are a couple of teasers, review w/ more photos should be done in a day or two.

Did they play Going Blind twice? They definitely played Set Me Straight twice, that bugged me a little

bullhead

Set me Straight was played twice... once the album/1983 version, and the second time with Deserted Cities of the Heart.

i'm cutting my .WAV up now. i'd be psyched to see what everyone else has.

Idlehanz

Yep, Set Me Straight was played twice.  It's an 83 song, so they did that version, then just the intro with DCH for the regular Houdini set.

Going Blind felt like it was played twice because it was so goddamned good.

evasivetear

i also recorded audio, from the balcony last night.

my recording came out pretty well (edirol r09HD, 24bit wav w/church audio mics & preamp), if those who filmed the show would like a copy of my audio to mix with theirs, i'd be happy to provide.

you can email me at bleach20xx AT yahoo dot com

Cont'd from the Webster Hall thread........

I woke up around 1 am to Grim bounding into the hotel room.  Drunk and happy.  Not sure where he'd been.  Tried to fall back asleep.  Around 6am his cell phone started going ballistic.  It rang for god knows how long before I yelled at him and he shut it off.  I thought.  Fucking thing kept going off for what felt like hours.  Turns out it was only about one hour, but it was loud and screaming and he just slept through it.  He was used to that noise.  I wasn't.  I eventually woke back up when MY alarm went off at 8am.  I got up, showered, and came out to bs with Grim for a few.  We shook, said our goodbyes, and I ventured on to find a Best Buy because I had forgot my battery charger.

I found NY on a Saturday morning to be very pleasant and peaceful ( as peaceful as NY can be ) and just a pleasure to walk around.  I never found the BB and had limited time to get to Penn station to board Amtrak.

I made it to Penn and took a gander at MSG, which was right next door, and wandered in.  I got my ticket and had an hour to kill.  I bought a bagel sammich thing and went outside to smoke.  I'm sitting there smoking and this girl that looks very familiar walks by.  I think " that's Erin"........and she goes on by with a dude that stands a bit taller than her.  Black "Witch" t-shirt and strolling with a purpose into Penn.  I didn't say anything because I wasn't 100% sure.  Turned out, I was right.  Anyway.....I get on the train and have a 4 hr 15 min ride to Boston. It was enjoyable.  Tooks some pics leaving NY and threw on the headphones.

Leaving NY

I got to Boston around 2:30 ET and walked out the Back Bay station.  Saw some beautiful architecture and it was very cool and breezy.  Tooks some pics:

Boston reminded me very much of Portland, which is funny, because Portland was almost called Boston, but Portland won out on the toss of a coin.

I walked all the fuck over.  Saw Fenway, ate at a bar/restaraunt, and walked some more.

I found a BB with some over the phone help from the gf and bought a charger.  Im walked from Fenway to the venue which was about 2 miles or so and sat down to some chips n salsa and a Sam Adams seasonal.  After a while I talked to Dillard and went in the venue.  It was much smaller than Webster.   From standing in the balcony, felt like I was almost on top of the stage.

I ended up asking this very cool couple if I could trade them spots so I could be right next to the soundbooth and have something to lean against so I could film.  I gave them some ATP dvd's for letting us switch spots.

The show started and commenced same as the NY show.  I won't go into specifics as I already did in the Webster Hall thread.  Mostly the same intro's and so on.  My vid turned out MUCH better this night.  I did sit all night waiting for some security douche to tap me on the shoulder and tell me to turn it off, but that never happened.  During Going Blind it really sounded as if the whole crowd was singing along.  It was a great moment.  Dale didn't use the gong near as much.

After the show I hung out and had some beers while the set was tore down.  I talked with Mike and Dale up at the bar in the balcony and after a bit they had to take off.  I met Jeph ( from Gigposters ) and lamented about the poster selling out before I could buy one.  I said goodbye to them all and caught a cab to Logan.

When I got to Logan, it was about 1am.  I've never seen an airport NOT busy.  It was very weird.  I wandered for about 2 hours just thinking and walking and thinking some more.

I eventually got my ticket, and sat in the terminal and boPortland and slept a bit more.  I arrived in PDX about 11am PST and here I am, writing reviews and putting up pics and transferring my memories of the best Melvins shows I've ever seen to dvd.  So for you all that make fun of us that videotape the shows, go choke on it.  I have these memories.  Right there on my tv.

mckickflip

well god damn. i need to see how a video of this performance came out.

going blind was definitely a high point of the concert, the energy was unparalelled
