Sorry if this is kind of a late response, but I read a while back that when they did the recent Houdini shows, they played some stuff as a duo? I imagine that was Buzz and Dale? What songs did they play?

By they way, I also miss the Melvins as a power trio. 2nd guitar idea would be cool too.

I'd like to see a Big Melvins/Fantomas gig with Tim Moss on guitar as well. 3 Drummers, 2 Bass, 3 guitar and 1 Mike Patton.  Epic.

Maybe Patton would work a little better if he took more of a support role, as opposed to positioning himself as a frontman. Or he could just ditch the mics and only do samples and electronics

Ditch all the mics I reckon. I used to rate Buzz's vocals but Toshi keeps on fucking it up in the mix and makes all vocals 200% louder than the rest of the band. melvins instrumental with samples would be killer.

that's my opinion exactly.  he's a great songwriter and can find what fits the song.  but why is he so fucking deaf when it comes to vocals?.....at least with his collaborations with the Melvins anyways

As much as I love tool, I wouldn't be pissed off in the slightest if Adam joined the melvins.  I already made a post on Tool Army with that suggestion, they weren't too pleased.

Wasn't the DSS tour trilogy era, not HAT?  I remember seeing them at the Showbox with DSS on guitar when Leif Garrett was with 'em for Smells Like Teen Spirit (and Novoselic came out on stage with 'em for their curtain call).  On the HAT tour I saw 'em at Hell's Kitchen and they were definitely just a trio.  Those were both amazing shows.

As far as a Melvins sextet, I think that they sound their heaviest/best as a trio, as was evidenced at recent shows.
