Kind of exited, I just got my tickets. Melvins in San Jose on Friday, August 7th, Sunn O))) the next night in SF!
Does anyone know who is opening for the Melvins for this show?

IrvingtonFoster

I'll be there too, don't know who the openers are yet.  can't wait for this shit.

the ether bunny

ive had my ticket for a few weeks, and the special guest concept has been driving me wild.

you should check out sunn o))) at the brookdale lodge in the santa cruz mountains on the 9th instead. that place is hauntingly beautiful, and i can imagine it being the perfect setting for such a band.

I've scoured the Internet and I still can't tell you who the special guest is.  I'd hazard a guess at Altamont but other than that nothing comes to mind.

Anyone heard what they might be doing for the 2 sets? I read a review from a show in Boston back in May, I'm pretty sure they can't fit 2 drum sets on the stage at The Blank Club, so I'm guess we'll be seeing them as a 3 piece. Would love to hear the early stuff live and I missed Houdini live a couple NYE's ago.

QuoteYep, I went last night and the show was awesome. Melvins came out, with the original drummer and Dale did the bass. Buzz referred Dale as Matt Lukin and they did the entire Mangled Demos. Mike left the drums and Dale went behind the drum kit. What followed was really cool. It was just Buzz and Dale, with no bass, and the did a variety of songs from several albums. They even threw in 1 song from Nude with Boots. Trevor Dunn finally came out and the Melvins did the entire Houdini album. They did 2 more songs, which I think was from Stag and that was it. The Melvins came on at 9:30 pmand played for over 2 hours. The show was really cool and I'm psyched I went.

You'd be surprised where you can stick a drum kit.  It will be a four piece.

If they can fit them on the stage at John Henry's ( they can ), they can fit them anywhere.

If not, Coady will just have to sit on Dales lap and play.
