if you look at it realistic , HAT isnt short, its compact and a raffined version of their music :)
I hope they continue this way, but i dont think they will,

tastelikedirt

At first I would expect H.A.T. vol. 2....but, can you really "expect" anything from the Melvins? They might but out an album of recorded footsteps.

Since we already have a HAT we dont need a HAT 2. I just hope for something original.

Is there any songs they have been playing live that are new?

They played a new, Lysolesque song and also an (apparently) improvised noise jam on the Cameron Jamie film soundtrack tour last year.

i thumbed through some "punk" magazine at borders because there was a jello biafra interview in it.  the interview started off talking about the melvins. Jello said something like, "the title of the album, 'Never Breathe What You Can't See' has a little story behind it.  the melvins and jello had been traveling back and forth between LA and san francisco, and jello was complaining about the air quality, Buzz replied, never breathe what you can't see.  jello also said this line "buzz came into the studio with all these punkifier riffs." jello said that parts of it are unlike anything either bands have done before.  jello ALSO said if he had to categorize it, it sounds sort of like Lard and the album he did with DOA.

so we got a definite album name, buzz's "punkifier" riffs, stuff different from both artists styles, and a stab at the what the album sounds like.  sounds good to me, except can someone please post what LARD and the DOA album sound like?? i kinda need to know that for it to make sense.

there you go guys.  hope i helped.

i wasn't even reffering to the Jello album, i was talking about the puppies album.

But hopefully the jello album is good. I dont know, if he just wanks off about leftist shit im gonna be mad. but hey, its the melvins, who cares.

Now mike and the melivns.... where the fuck is that baby.

that's weird, i had a temporary mental failure and i honestly forgot about making room for puppies and believed the only new album coming is the jello one.  odd.  doesn't "making room for puppies" seem like a very different title for the melvins?  it's so....long?  and it is like the album itself will make room for puppies, like it's title is its activity.  in the past the melvins have avoided using titles or lyrics to refer to the music or the music's purpose and i like that alot.  it's like they don't use verbs as much as nouns.  i typically don't like songs that acknowledge their own existence, or album titles that so the same.  anyone know what i mean about these things?  and finally, who is this Mike of the mike and the melvins album?  i feel like i knew at one point but have forgotten now.

I am of the opinion that this 'making room for puppies' is a cruel hoax, dropped like serin on our heads by the fuckers at ipecac. The get us all hard and wet and then laugh in our faces. Melvins and Jello...this I believe will happen...New Melvins album in the near future...this i believe is doubtful.

Mike of Mike and The MELVINS is Mike Kunka of Godheadsilo, Dead Low Tide, and Enemymine. I was under the impression that that project wasn't gonna happen. Check out his stuff though, it's pretty good.

LARD is basically Jello singing for Ministry. It sounds like Jello singing for Ministry. Get their album  The Last Temptation Of Reid it's one of the best things either ever did. The rest of the LARD albums are spotty.

DOA was an 80's hardcore band they kinda sound like early DRI or maybe the Circle Jerks. I was never a big fan so I can't recomend any of their albums. The record they did with Jello had a somewhat broader sonic palette from what I can recall. I remember it bein' pretty damn good.

of course you must keep in mind that the album may not even be called making room for puppies and ipecac is just playing another one of their tricks.  the thought of them telling me so much more in advance than they posted it on their site is questionable.  it's not like i'm in with them or anything and they've never been interested in giving information to this site in the past.
