When I first brought Bootlicker I listened to it about 3 times and decided it wasn't for me. But last week I put in back in my CD player for some random reason and now I can't stop listening to it! I think it was because I thought it would be another The Maggot, and was disappointed when it wasn't. Anybody else had a similar feeling towards this fantastic album?

anaconda

maybe i'm obsessive or something, but if i listen to one
of the trilogy CDs i just naturally play the other two as well.
fave tune on bootlicker has to be 'let it all be'. that song
just sounds like drugs to me.
:D

That's why I listened to Bootlicker again in the first place, cause I'd listened to Maggot and Crybaby that day. 'Let it all be' is an absolutly amazing song although I'm also a big fan of 'Mary Lady Bobby Kins'. But I was very sursprised to see that song was actually wrote by The Melvins.

I think I am the only one who loves (it?) "Up the Dumper"....
"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."

- Lord Verulam

The Piss-Machine

"Up the Dumper" gives me wood everytime I hear it. Don't forget "Black Santa"...the heaviest song ever written.

klump

Excellent album.
I love the "roomy" dry sound. (although they may have gone over the top on treble at times)

klump

hehe, I like that scratching sound in my ears :)

the melvins are masters of suspension, they push ALL of our buttons to the point of insanity and then they explode in cacophony(sic) of sound! :)

So is there anyone here who didn't like it when they first heard it, and then grew to like it?:shock::shock:

Dr. Gonzo

Bootlicker is my favourite of the trilogy... then crybaby, then maggot. Bootlicker, Stag and Stoner Witch were my first Melvins adventures period, happened to be well hitting the bong lots too.

yeah. that was me. Bootlicker was the third melvins album I heard (the other two were Stag & Maggot). I was more expecting somethign rocking. I first heard a friend's copy once, then bought my own about 2 years later. I love it. Perfect going-to-work-stoned music...
