Does anyone really listen to them, or do you guys just enjoy hearing King Buzzo singing something.

I've never really put much emphasis on lyrics. I listen to music for music. If i wanted pretty writing, i would read poetry.

but the lyrics are way better in music than poetry. Maybe not with the Melvins, but with many other bands.

It was through listening to the Melvins that I realized that I really don't like "lyrics". Of course, the Melvins do have lyrics and I love them(I sing along in the car). That doesn't mean I understand them 75% of the time. And that, my friends, is a GOOD thing. I applaud Buzz for avoiding writing standard lyrics.

How many times has a perfectly good song been ruined by abysmal lyrics? Plenty! Which isn't to say that there aren't good lyrics or lyricists out there cuz there are but they are few and far between. I personally prefer songs that aren't so damn literal (this is a love song, this is a protest song, this is a song about  pig fucking, etc.).  By keeping things a bit abstract in the lyric department I think the Melvins create a sense of mystery with their music which increases the shelf life of their work. God bless 'em.

causesunknown, who the hell is that little guy on your pic? i saw him on the perv priest poster and dozens of other places.................................................................................................................................................... . . . . . . .. . .

I like how he keeps them real... mysterious.

He's saying soemthing, but he's not saying anything to me at the same time. Let the music speak for itself, yeah.

It's a chicken nugget. You know it...

buzz kinda sings in a way that makes the vocals and the melody one big flow, he often simplifies or twists words or something like that, i like it. like on now a limo from 10 songs he sings something like "too much to juice it" but it sounds like he says "chumazzu chizzu", it's like he makes up his own words, fucking awesome :) Other than that i don't pay much attention to the words of the lyrics but i think buzz does a great job. I wonder whether he just makes up words that fit into the melody or if he really has stuff in mind and tries to decode it into something weird.

That reminds me of when someone i knew asked a Mcdonalds employee why they stopped showing the commercials where the animated chicken nuggets dip themselves in their own sauce and his reply was that maybe people tried imitating the chicken nuggets.    Oh man, what an idiot!

oh man, I listen to their lyrics, what I can hear out of it.
there aren't many bands where the vocals are so powerfull & evil. the lyrics/words have to do with that as well!
