YES. Inquiring minds want to know.

Last nights show was just plain sick. And as always, there is not a better bar in the US to see a show- All hail The Casbah. Glad to see the boys back at the top of the bill... though I did appreciate those opening shows, too.  An absolutely ridiculous two set evening, more merch than they have had in years and a stunning new wardrobe.  The set list as it was played:

Sacrifice > Civilized> Black Stooges> Pighouse> Electric Flower> Anaconda> Black Bock> Kicking Machine> Billy Fish> Skin Horse
Water Glass> Evil New> Amazon> Talking Horse> Lysool> Let It All Be> My Generation (yes, by The Who)> Revolve> Bacon Industry> Lovely
(They did play a bit of Day Tripper but I think it was only a filler while Coady's drums were getting fixed.  Good spontaneity by the King.)

Merch included six new mELVIns shirts and about eight of their last CD's.  The Box set is amazing but only for the fan and collector (its $200 and worth it). Don't try to make money on eBay.  Pussy.

I am not kidding on this show- it was the best I have seen in years.  Easily the best since they became a four-piece.  As a side note, Totimoshi came on at 9:30 and played 40-minutes. Good set.  mELVIns came on at 10:30 sharp. Do not miss this tour.

Six NEW shirts?

Heh, that's exactly what I was thinking.  Maybe they've been selling out too quickly on previous tours?

But I'm thinking.....SIX new designs?  Brand new designs?

Wow...what a beautiful night.

I came to make the review and hadn't wanted to spoil the set because it was so damn good. Yes, there are pics and videos. From the front. At the Casbah. That shit'll have to be a bit later though... I met the Grim Reaper (only to have him, literally, vanish before my eyes as the guys took the stage..how the fuck did he do that?? then SACRIFICE started playing, I was wondering where I was, a bit eerie to tell you the truth) and I shook each members hand (afterwards) and thanked them. Even in the disarray that they left me in I attempted to show my gratitude.

And YES! Mumus all around. Buzz had his medicinal mumu, Jared's was seemingly "He-Man" influenced, Coady's had slices of pizza on his, Dale's was similar to a wall paper pattern or shower curtain.

The shirts are cool. I think it was probably two or maybe three new designs. I think the confusion was that they showed both sides of them though they weren't labeled front or back. I got the new one with 3 skull and crossbones and melvins on the front and some puking Zebras and pooping bugs (fleas?) on the back. All shirts were $20. The poster was $10 as were all the cds. They had ASA 4 disc on vinyl. They had NWB on vinyl. No Melvins/ISIS split yet. So I got the NWB vinyl (my very first record :) ), the shirt, the new album (still haven't heard the cd) and the poster. The cd box set had no extra music, just the art, according to Meg. I literally have the money in my hand right NOW for it. If only Memorial Day didn't stop my mail from being delivered in due time. Though Grim got one. He told me when we met in line for the pisser. An interesting place to meet the Grim Reaper, I will tell you that. Especially when I look at him, he looks at me, I open my mouth and he just puts out his hand and says in my ear, "I am the Grim Reaper"...chilling. He proceeded to buy me booze and then the disappearing act ensued.

One thing to note. My first epicly, epic highlight of the evening was that they dabbled with the beginning of Skin Horse. This is not something that I am aware has happened live. So amazing and a wonderful moment for me in the evening. I almost broke down crying. So heavy.

I got up to the front (not hard at the Casbah) by AMAZON in the second set. I'll just say now that ALL of the material from those early Ipecac days has new life! Those songs really did destroy with two drums. There should be no debate whether or not this set or these shows are their best or at least MY best experience from being there. While up front it did get a bit rowdy but I was able to handle it. I was so close that a serious push from the crowd behind me could throw me into Coady's kit and it did at times. I could tell there was some aggravation with Dale and his kit. He didn't seem as happy but he seemingly took out his frustrations on his drums. Pummeling away. All the guys were so close to the crowd I think I would've felt a little claustrophobic if I was up on that stage.

The new songs are really out there! While hearing the new stuff, song by song, I went from thinking: interesting, then fucking crazy, then fucking heaavvy...I did not know the Karp cover (I've neglected listening to that band's stuff and that needs to change) but the Lovely Butterfly ending could NOT have been better.

I suppose I will get some of the pics up here soon. I've got quite a few and some video too. That will take a bit longer. It's crappy stuff and I haven't even watched it yet but I know it is. They will potentially show you a little bit about the show but in no way did they capture the immensity of mounting power that was MELVINS.

God damn!  July 6th can't come soon enough.  I only hope they add PGx3 as an encore.
