Number of times seen Melvins - 0

Between us we've seen the band once!

Dec 2003 - Adelaide, Australia - Ipecac Geek Show tour (Heaven nightclub) w/ Tomahawk, Fantomas

Are you an aussie? Have you ever met, on this bbs, the other aussie Clive, earlier Dijk Cheese? We also had an aussie who called himself Anonymus some 10-11 years back. Clive is
very often into Ecumenical, if you should feel the need for som aussie.chat.
dont mind him, he doesn't speak aussie.

Anonymus? Perhaps mooafeena. He lives in brisbane I think.

How'd you remember them all?  Write them down somewhere, save ticket stubs, ...?  I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I've seen them. Beginning in the early 90's (maybe Glen remembers, as I was most likely with him) through now, around 20ish times I'd say.

I do have some ticket stubs and flyers, mostly from the 90s, but actually I just went year by year in the most excellent tour archive and read through all the shows. It was actually surprisingly easy just going through them all, all kind of washing back over me, most with their own distinct memory or trigger of some kind. Some I remember much more clearly than others obviously, but I was able to identify them all that way, just rolling through the lists. I may have missed a couple or transposed a show or two here and there I guess but I think I got pretty close.

As anyone who has seen them (certainly anyone on this board) can likely attest, seeing the Melvins is an indescribable, awe-inspiring experience every single time. When they are at their best it's like watching a kind of magic or supernatural event happen right in front of you...with you, for you, because of you and in spite of you. Every time. Like being swallowed by some Lovecraftian beast from the depths, taken on a mystical journey, and delivered back to earth a slightly more evolved human than when the show started. So I have an emotional attachment to each of those experiences that is with me forever, and it was a really cool process going through the archive and reliving some of those moments as I did. Who I was at the shows with, who was playing bass at the time, where I was living, working, etc. Kinda neat. And in many cases there are certain overall shows or even extremely specific moments within individual shows  that are so deeply carved into my heart and brain (like this one for example: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/melvins/2003/great-american-music-hall-san-francisco-ca-4bdedb9a.html -  'Let it All Be' into 'Green Manalishi' was more than my puny little brain could make sense of) that I firmly believe they have changed me for the better as a person.

So y'know, I'm gonna keep on catching those guys live when I can.

Only two times:

December 5, 2014 - Santiago, Chile at the Cariola Theater
December 6, 2014 - Santiago, Chile at Rockout Festival

I'm still hoping for a new south american tour... but a real tour though, seeing the band in Chile was awesome but come on, I know there are more fans in the rest of the continent.

I plan on it sooner than later :)     Maybe even this year.

I do want to hit up your area at some point though.  To bad it's too late for this year.
