...and they all sing the same refrain: its fun to take a trip, put acid in your veins.

So are melvins really covering Black Betty for a car commercial or is this some hoax?

MELVINS didn't record it for a car commercial. jon spencer did.  MELVINS version is just for this split.

Ok I'm relieved but black betty? fucking hell that's scraping the bottom of the barrell.  What's next Freebird, stairway to heaven?

Up next is a sweet cover of "The sign" by Ace of Base.
This signature has been banned.
It rubbed the right person, the wrong way.

I'm willing to bet they did record it for the commercial, but the JSBZX version was chosen instead.
I am a raper guy, obviously.

Nail on head I think.

yep, the song selection is interesting.  seeing as I hear it 3 times a night at most karaoke bars.

but imagine the timing on that song done by MELVINS.  I think it will work.

theres alot about that song that reminds me of a MELVINS track.

Greasy Statement

nick cave and the bad seeds do a particularly good version of the song, based more off the traditional arrangement on "kicking against the pricks"

MELVINS usually always twist a cover in a good way.
BUT the last Kiss cover and now this are too straight in a bad way. :(

I wished they would have slowed it down OZMA style instead we get a second place
winner from a VW commercial.

still can't wait to get it!

So are melvins really covering Black Betty for a car commercial or is this some hoax?  If it's true how do Melvins fans feel about it?  Is it selling out?  Is it too easy to cover a classic rock song for mass consumption?  I don't know I'm bewildered.

1. Yes
2. We feel great
3. Melvins sold out when they signed to Atlantic.
4. Yes

SeattleSam

Signing to Atlantic does not equal selling out.
