A thread about The Melvins being good?  This thread is going to sink pretty quickly.

They're OK lately, but they need to get onto recording a new album. I hate to say it
but Buzz and co. have become an oldies nostalgia act by focusing on their 'classic' releases
while mostly ignoring their newer material. Something that Buzz always said he despised
in other bands until he started doing it himself. i.e Spaceland, Endless Residency, etc..

Greasy Statement

if they focused on the new material then everybody here would bitch about how they neglect the old albums. then they'd bitch about the four piece line up, followed by wanting kevin back etc. etc. etc

anaconda

you know how we do, if we don't bite the hand they won't feed us something new!

Focusing on new material seemed to work fine up until 2006.

GrimReaper

The Melvins should just open up a steak joint called At the Stake. Blue Oyster Cult could play there every summer. Hipsters could travel from far and wide in a search for their own Mecca.

brilliant idea!

Like I said though, they're OK lately. But when I saw them at the Opera House
last summer it was mostly material from ASA and TBSM and it was such a great,
great show! They even played Pinhead and Bacon Industry!! That show was like
90% new material and 10% oldies and they tore the place down!!

If I recall the only nostalgia songs they played were Oven and Sacrifice, and
Night Goat near the end before the accapela Okie.

Mad Arab

They should play a show with a setlist of nothing but covers and rarities they have done. How cool would it be to see them live playing Jerkin Krokus and perhaps GGIIBBYY?

This reminds me of how spoiled Melvins fans are.  I mean seriously, how many bands that you like release an album every single year?  The Bride Screamed Murder just came out a year ago!  Sugar Daddy was mostly ASA and NWB material which I consider to be pretty new and Endless Residency wasn't available to the masses anyway.  Plus Endless Residency sounded fresh because of the new singers and Coady.  They have a really big back catalog and it's really impressive that they've played so much of it while playing the new songs too.

I'm sure Buzz mentioned that they were going to record some singles with Trevor Dunn on stand up bass.
