"We figured it was time for us to do something REALLY crazy," said Osborne. "51 shows in 50 states plus 1 on D.C. and all in 51 days?  Jeez!  I wonder if we can do it?"

The tour, which will feature the Melvins Lite line-up of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn, also marks the first time in the band's near 30-year history that they will perform in Alaska, New Hampshire, Delaware and Hawaii.

Last band that I can think of that did this was George Thorogood in 1981 of course he was 31 when he did it...

upon closer inspection, this tour was 51 in 50, as he did 2 shows in one day, DC and maryland: http://thorogoodconcerts.com/5050tour.html

melvins are gonna have to add some instore performances or second sets (which may not be hard judging from the size of some of these places) to actually set the record

Yeah it looks like Melvins have decided to do 51 shows in 51 days, as opposed to 51 in 50 days.

(((O)))

I'm thinking of catching the Rochester show on July 1st before they hit Canada.. Then catching the Boston show 3 months later on October 1st. It's nice being in a centralized location. It's about the same distance either way from Albany  :D

Yeah man. Living in WNY has advantages sometimes. Ticket already purchased for Rochester. Will probably do Cleveland and/or Jerwyn PA(near Scranton) in the fall too.

Absolutely, Judy.  Round two is on me   The rest of the night  - Glen's buying  :D

I'm going to try to hit up a few dates as well.
Not sure if I can make it happen but DAMMIT I will try

Melvins got it right by ending it in Hawaii. They can have themselves a nice little vacation for when it's all over.

Anyone gonna go to the CT show? I'm glad it's at Toads Place they have the best live sound there. I called my friend who likes them (but not like I do) and he was like..."Holy shit dude you are obsessing over buying tix Friday when the show is in October? You are not right....but I completely understand and approve. Get me a ticket too" lol
Los ticka toe rest

I might consider chirping up if George Thorogood wasn't such a badass.

I've only been to Rochester twice.. And I have never seen a show there. I think it would be especially cool to see the first show of this epic journey.

During my unsuccessful search for Morgantown tickets I noticed on Ticketmaser's site that the PA show on September 27th will not be in Jermyn, but in Allentown at Crocodile Rock. Tickets go on sale 10 am Saturday.

The Club at water Street is a pretty good venue, I saw them play there last time they were in town. Make sure you stop at Nick Tahous and get a Garbage Plate, its what were known for here in the ROC. Im glad I don't have to drive to Buffalo again to see them, it seems they always play there.
WTF ROCHESTER NY

Chief Ten Beers

Last two area stops were back to back Rochester/Buffalo - '08 & '09. '09 Buffalo was awesome because they headlined with two sets without Down. I kind of figured NYC would be the only NY show this fall.
I've been going to Rochester shows since the early '90s and I don't think I've ever been to Nick Tahou's, I don't even know exactly where it is. There are a few places in Batavia that have knock-off versions of the garbage plate, hit or miss. Dinosaur BBQ is the place to hit in Rochester for bad-ass food.

Looks like I'm out for the PA show. Scranton wouldn't be too bad a drive, but now Allentown - too far. Will settle for Cleveland Grog Shop where I last saw Melvins in 2010.
